With my belly virtually overhanging onto my laptop I think the time has come to make an effort to get fitter.

I still have a gym membership but to be honest it bores the hell out of me. What alternative ways of toning up can you suggest which don't have the boredom factor of going to the gym?

I've got back on my bike and I'm loving it. Its only 8 miles each way too and from work but I'm really enjoying being back in the saddle.

Good exercise, good for the environment and after a couple of weeks I'm already noticing the benefits.

Good call mate. Been thinking about buying a new 'un. Seriously consider cycling to work, but you wanna see the bloody hills on the way back!
Living around the Pennines means there is some spectacular scenery to view. But there are also some pretty scary hills when it comes to cycling!

How I wish I lived in Norwich!!!

Getting on the old push iron is definitely a great way to stay fit. I love cycling, its a little hilly in the north west at times though (well actually all of the time, but you know what I mean).

If the gym bores you (which is does me), then I find that playing footy with my work mates really helps and squash is brilliant for helping with your fitness and its really good fun to play as well!

I thought the same just after Christmas.
After 4 months I had lost 2 lbs.
Cut right back on the home made wine and lost a stone in 2 months.

How much do you drink, what do you eat and do you carry your clubs?

It was definitely noticeable too! :o :D

Luckily my job keeps me pretty fit, they worked out on my job on a average 8 hour shift 2 of us lift around 12 tonnes of parts between us and i reckon we must walk a good 5 miles at least.

and they wonder why i tell them i won't don't overtime on a weekend cause i need a rest and to play golf and get pisshed obviously :)

To be honest I have cut back on the drink. Got into a routine of bevvying Friday and Saturday nights. Very rarely drink during the week.

Nowadays I sometimes go several weeks without touching a pint. Foodwise, I have cut down on what I eat at work. Used to have a few sandwiches or ready meals zapped in the microwave. Now mainly eating fresh fruit and yoghurt. Trouble is I often have a sizeable meal for my tea when I get home from work.
Thinking of cutting down but maintaining the content as I often chill out after work at home.

Sometimes carry, trolley on comps and full rounds.

Any hope for me Dr Bob? :)

Hi mate,

I cycle and have also been doing a fitness dvd called Insanity.

In the 5 weeks that I have been doing it , I have toned up and lost around 3 inches from my waist.

The dvd is pricey, but worth it . It is also cheaper on Ebay.

Cheers

Midnight...

Right, I'm off out to take the whippet for a walk!!! :D

There's your problem.
Plain as the nose on your face.
You're walking your whippet.

Having a fat whippet isn't helping your cause.
Get it/he/she on a diet too then you can take it for a run instead. That will solve you fat whippet problem. :D
