First up id like to apologise I realise that this is a forum and my family probs are just that, mine.

I really feel like i need to write this out as I still cant get my head around it, we have not told that many people, no facebooking etc, and i feel i just needed a release.

March 31st we were told that my beautiful wee princess Molly who is 8 has a brain tumour! it came as a huge shock as a couple weeks back she won most promising dancer at her last feis. Then on mothers day we noticed she was not herself, cue a trip to docs, then hospital, ct scan revealed the tumour so she was sent to the childrens hospital where she has undergone an mri, a ten hour op on monday, a second mri and the consultant said it didnt go as planned,so we have to go to plan b. Whilst in hospital she was in great form before the op, only reason we knew she was poorly was the lack of strength in her right hand and leg. She is currently onto her 3rd day in picu but the docs are happy with her progress.
We will hopefully speak to the oncologist on friday about future treatment, expected to be chemo and further ops, they are confident they can make it work, but told us its a 12 month process and it will be tough.

She is a brave wee fighter and strong as a bull, so we are keeping positive as we can. Its tough on my wife and i as we have a wee boy of 4 and a wee girl of 10 also, what with us staying at the hospital and running back and forth they only know popsy (molly) is unwell and will be away a little bit longer. I am fortunate that work have been great so far which is a huge weight off but all we want is for a positive outcome.

thanks for taking the time to read and letting me get a little off my chest, any release is good for my wife and i at present so thanks.

That's a terrible situation mate, and anytime you need to release then this forum may just be the help you'll need. You will all be in my thoughts until the whole thing is resolved..

Hope all goes very well, I know 4 people who have recently come through various forms of cancer treatment, and are thankfully now in remission or have been given the all clear. Hope yours is also a success story.

Very sad news JT and my thoughts are definitely with you all.

Whether it's any help or not I don't know, but my wife went through a similar thing in her early teens. No real symptoms then all of a sudden diagnosed with a brain tumour. Went in for a biopsy, which was expected to be routine, ended up having major emergency surgery there and then. The bright side is that, apart from now being married to me, she's gone on to lead a pretty much fully normal life. Aside from a few meds over the years (she now only takes one) and a scar from the surgery, she went on to make an excellent recovery.

Keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you all.

1st thanks for sharing, I know myself that sometimes when things are tough just being able to put a few words down can help. Your daughter is obviously in great hands and as a dad of 3 myself and been through a few medical issues in the past with mine (nothing as serious) it can be a real wrench especially not being able to do anything yourself.

Stay strong and my thoughts are with your daughter and your family at this difficult time

So sorry to hear your news! Best wishes. Try to stay positive.

When my daughter was 1 we started to notice she was quite behind her sister re development. Turns out she has cerebral pasly. I made the mistake of google (don't do it). Within days my outlook was ridiculous pessimistic having seen the horror stories (bad news is always easier to find). 18 months on and with specialist treatment my daughter has started to walk, and mentally she's level pegging with her peers.

I now the nhs has it's knockers, but I think when it comes to children they are a lot more 'on it'!

I'm sure she'll get the best, and I hope that as has been said. In time there'll be a positive outcome with her road to remission and recovery!

Terrible news and I hope she makes a full recovery. Try to stay positive as much as you can

Vent what you want on here if it helps you get it off your chest, I have known people in similar situations feel trapped so make sure you let it out somewhere.

If it helps you JT vent away on here dude. nothing more important than the health and happiness of your family. She is in the right place to get the best treatment available. you have to stay strong for her and your others and the mrs. My eldest has been pretty poorly in her little life with some chronic pneumonia problems, and as someone earlier in the thread posted, the NHS do get bashed (hell even by me recently quite a lot!) however, when it comes to kids, the paediatric teams are as close to superheroes as you get in day to day life and they will do everything they can to make her better.

All the best to you and your family, thoughts are with your little girl and you.

I wish your daughter the best of luck in her treatment, i hope everything goes well!

My youngest,2, has been in and out of hospital since birth (although nothing as serious as your daughter), so i can relate to your pain and you are correct in that putting a few words down even on a golf forum relieves a bit of the strain.

All the best Molly,JT & Family!
