in my opinion, i feel he's a little hard done by. The lads 15. What 15yr old reads rules and listens to advise. The gear could very easily be legal and above board. I've heard of people buying things on ebay and reselling them on ebay just because they think they can get a higher price. I read a post this week where he was trying to sell something and many of you virtually accused him of knicking them. "IF" he has aquired them legally, how would you feel if 5 people accused you? He thinks he's found a way of making a buck and he's found a site full of golfers with a for sale forum attached. So thats what he's latched onto. Forgive me if i'm wrong but isn't he trying to sell things in a for sale forum? He probable thinks "they'll not ban me, they're just trying to scare me" If his posts annoy so many of you so much then don't read them. You can see there from him so don't read them.
And as for not putting posts up, again he's 15, he may feel scared and intimidated that people will laugh at him if he gets something wrong. I'm 32 and struggle with English and spelling but I run my own business and I can hit an ball and I love the game. I also pull out of putting post up because of what people may think, and from reading some of the above comments I can see why.
HOWEVER
If this lads selling hot stuff then ignore the above rant and kick his ass out.

Having never really taken much notice of what mono was selling i can't say i've noticed anything odd, so i've just had a look in the for sale forum and I have to say I am shocked at the amount of gear a young lad of 15 is selling!!

Either his dad is minted, or that gear is nicked....no 2 ways about it really. No 15yo can afford to buy so much gear, get bored of it or acquire something better and flog it for a fraction of the price paid for it, jesus wept, i cant even afford a small percentage of the gear he's forked out on and i earn a bloody good wage!

Definitely something untoward going on there!!

As has already been posted, this forum is provided by GM....and what happens if all this gear is hot and the police go knocking on mono's door, where they confiscate his pc gear and discover that he's selling his stolen gear via GM and a lot of GM forum users realise they're playing with someone elses ex pride & joy?

The ban is justified in my opinion and if & when mono does return, he should not be allowed to sell anything on here.

If he has proof of purchase then I doubt there will be anything wrong. I have never bought anything of here before so I took a look at what Mono had posted and was shocked with the amount of top end gear he was shifting, only aged 15. Almost certainly something fishy going on, but if he had proof of purchase everything should be OK?

Proof of purchase would alter things slightly yes, do you believe he has proof of purchase for everything?

No. If I'm being honest I doubt he has proof of purchase for much, but I would like to know which tournaments he's winning during the winter season to get all this stuff!

I think everyone needs to calm down, it all seems perfectly justifiable to me.

remember, if you dont like someone's posts, or they annoy you, or whatever, just hit the 'ignore this user' button on the persons profile.

Guy's i think we should get real on this Mono character i think all along he has been playing you all he claims to be 15 years old he has got more gear and money than most working blokes. He picks up a thread and plays with it he see's someone ask about holidays abroad then few days later he posts. He is 15 yet i know from my own kids experience they come home from school at 4pm ish go to their rooms on with the computers etc I looked at his post times none of them are at that time they are all later on in the evening if i was selling stuff i would check for posts at first opportunity.
I personally do not think he is genuine and the right decision would be to get rid of him for good just my opinion.

This forum has changed and I'm not sure for the better.

In what respect do you think it has changed in a negative way. Im curious as I am as happy as I have always been with the forum as a whole.

The only negative I see is duplicated/regularly repeated topics but with ever-increasing user numbers, this is inevitable.

If anything has changed it is for the better, there are more and more meets going on, Homer is doing his forum section in the mag (great, great idea and a good man for the job), people are getting to know each other and the magazine guys get involved with us. All these things are much different to say 18 months ago, they happened (except homers pages which are totally new) but not to such an extent.

Storm in tea cup as I see it.

Mike quite rightly says that he is using this site mainly for selling LOTS of equipment instead of paying fees into ebay. Mono has been given a telling off, and hell even at 36 I still get these, and will be allowed back in a week to contribute to the forum. Being given a wrap on the knuckles normally makes you think and come back a better person, lets hope that this is the case here.

I did find him a little irritating and his grammar waz shoking. However I thought that, although not thought through extensively, his idea of a GM weekly league was actually very inventive and showed that he did have some interesting things to say.

I also think the forum is as good as ever. Not just for the reasons above, but also that there are so many new people joining, with fresh ideas etc. Time was when you were waiting ages for someone to post something. Leave it a couple of days now, and there are hundreds of new posts to read.

The result of this, is that you need moderators. When the forum was small, the GM guys could keep an eye on it, but now it has become a monster, they need help. Most web forums have moderators, and we are no different. Housework will always need to be done.

I think it is a mistake to put a downer on the idea of moderators based on what has happened to Mono. Reading MikeH's post, it appears he was given a chance to stop what he was doing, but chose to ignore it. As has been said, whether legit or not, he was selling way too much to not draw attention to himself. (I still don't get why he didn't just put it on ebay).

Mono has been banned for a week. That is hardly a big deal, and it looks like the decision of GM, not the moderators, who were (most of them) consulted. It isn't like they have asked GM to do this for them.

I will continue to use and enjoy the forum, and view the addition of moderators as a necessary development. I am willing to bet that 99% of the time we won't even notice them.
