Im giving serious consideration to getting custom fitted with a set of JPX800 irons. My question is this :
You have two option when it comes to getting custom fitted, either the a regional fit centre or the national (which is reasonable close)

If I went with the regional fitting rather than having to make an appointment & wait for the national would I be going for the lesser or the two option - Is there a lot more to the fitting in the national fit centre compared to regional?

Also if anyone would like to suggest an alternative set of irons to the Mizuno JPX800 that they think I should be looking at please feel free!

22 handicapper incidental if this helps with suggestions.

The National Fitting is a great experience and well worth it. They have a much bigger range of clubs and shafts and the guys are very knowledgeable. You will not be under any pressure to buy and the fitters will give you a prescription you can take to the shop of your choice, or you need not buy anything at all. The JPX are a very good set and can see you down into single figures.

I would highly recommend the national fitting centre. I went late Feb and had my clubs delivered from the American golf located next to the Fitting centre in New Malden two weeks later. They don't sell clubs at the fitting centre so can't pressure you. You just get a print out and email of the specs and you go where you find it cheapest. And its free to boot.

Worth trying JPX, JPX Pro and MP53.

God I would love a set of MP53 rather than JPX as they look so much nicer but the £440 is about my limit for the JPX & I would imagine MP53 must be nearer £600!

Mine were £75 a club fitted, £450 PW-5. They are a little more players than the JPX but they are no blade. Try um!!!

Stupid question but what benefit would I get out "more of a players club" I am incapable of shaping the ball & to be honest my home course is not that difficult that it requires it whilst remaining challenging enough for a diddy like me.
Is there any other benefit to the Mp53 over JPX to my limited skill level?

MP53 will be easier to "work the ball" with. But if you're looking for forgiveness and distance, the JPX is your man!

Best bet is to go to the National Fitting centre and try them all and see which ones suit you best. The fitters know their onions and make sure you get fitted for the right club.

The MP53 look like god made them and the JPX look like Mattel did!?

Na but really, they are a little sharper but like a little sharper strike, as Astec says, hit them all, its different for everyone. Its all about the shaft you will be fitted for anyhow, after that its what head your eye likes the look of and the lofts on the clubs.

I would suggest going with an open mind, seeing what Mizuno recommend and you like, and taking it from there. It may turn out you play best with something you weren't expecting.
