Mince Pies

M&S do a massive posh one for about a quid50, but for us. its the Sainsbury 'fresh' ones. 4 for a quid. The Co-op fresh also worth a mention, better pastry, but less filling than sains.

Tesco finest decent, Sains posh range decent. I have a soft spot for the Tesco Crumble topped ones!!

Can you tell I love mince pies?!

Go for the all butter options, often marketed as having brandy in them. The basic, 99p for a pack of 6 tend to be a bit dry and they are mean on the filling. If you go up a level, between £1.50-£2.00 for 6, take your pick at that point as they are then much of a muchness, then you can not go far wrong. Aldi and Morrisons are my local and their better versions are equally lovely. M & S also deliver at that level. I suspect most brands at that price point and description will be similar ie very nice, maybe even made on the same line and just packed differently as these things often are. Just don't go bargain basement, you will end up disappointed and that is frankly criminal :D.

I'm enjoying the Tesco 87p ones. Nice and crumbly.

I have only ever had ONE decent homemade one and that was many many years ago, and lady who made them, whoever she was, is probably long gone.

I am now going to Tesco on my way home tonight.
25% off when you buy any 6 bottles of wine at my Tesco this morning. Warnincks advocaat £2 off.
Lets just say I won't be buying any more booze this year.
Oh yes, the thread is about mince pies. Went for box of 6 at 87p as above.

Was in Aldi earlier and they had boxes of "12 mini mince pies"... Could anyone help with the concept of a "mini" mince pie?! Very confused.

It has to be a decent one. Buttery, rich pastry and plump slightly boozey fruit inside.

No ICING THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!

I may get flamed for this.

McDonalds Festive Pie is epic

Managed to resist the urge but I’m weakening. My fav way of eating them is to break the top and drizzle some brandy in.

Breaksfast today, M&S Collection Mince pie delicately scoffed with huge serving of clotted cream. That’ll set me up nicely.

This forum just wouldn't be the same without you.
