So feels like I might have a case of Tennis elbow.. Over the past few weeks, have been painting a fair bit. Then got a sander and loved using it. It was alright for me. Then couple of times, I used the sander on the side of the cupboards -ie. lifting the weight and sanding. I think that might have tipped it. Now I find myself having a pain in the right muscle just below the elbow. It is fine when i am not doing anything or using the laptop. But the moment I pick something up, or put it under some stress, then it gets painful.

Havent got professional advice yet, but all symptoms seem to point to tennis elbow. Will go to a Dr/physio after Christmas.

Thinking of getting one of the arm bands off amazon. Any recommendations?

Assuming you have it correct and it's tennis elbow (on the outside) then I got one of these for playing tennis when I had quite a sore case in the summer. It's simple but it worked....

Also try to avoid exercises which hurt it and I used Voltarol - the stronger gel.

Yes it is on the outside of the right arm.. it is quiet irritating as i forget about it and then try and pick something up, only to put it down agian

When I've had tennis elbow the pain has been on the nobbly bit on the outside of the elbow. It couldn't have been mistaken for part of the muscle.
Rest was the only thing that worked for me.

Someone on here previously recommended Theraband rubber 'sticks'. I have one and use it when mine flares up. Very effective. I'm not the strongest, I have the green one

When I had tennis elbow the dr asked me to do a simple test. Try it.
Sit on a chair with your forearm flat to the surface of a table or worktop, palm down. Wiggle the finger next to your little finger up and down. You should/May see the tendon moving. Then get someone to apply pressure to your finger to stop it lifting and try to lift your finger. There should be some pain around the upper part of the forearm. For me it was agony.

I ended up with some dumbbells and did exercises where you again laid the forearm against my thighs and lifted the dumbbells up and down by just raising and lowering from my wrists. Palm down and then palm up.

What bogged me off, as soon as I got rid of it in my right arm, I got it in my left 🤬

Two foot of brush pole.
Piece of string / rope. 5 foot will do.
One house brick the type with three holes in.

Tie one end to the brick, the other end to the pole ,tie a loop on the end and nail it with a netting staple if you have one.
Or drill a hole in the middle.

Arms out straight wind the brick up off the floor and unwind down again.
This is what my phisio told me to do and it sorted it .
It’s tough at first but build it up gradually.

i had it bad a couple of years ago, had tennis in one arm and golfers in the other. not played much in the last year and not at all the last 4 months and now its completely gone.

rest worked a treat

Yeah I have just been diagnosed with Tennis Elbow, had it about 6 weeks now, nothing worked. Really they say I need to rest it as I work on a computer all day long and the mouse useage really affects it. I have a wrist brace they have asked me to wear for 8 weeks. I cannot afford to not get paid for a few months, wife is really unhappy as well. AT a bit of a loss here as I think rest will jsut clear it up yet my job just makes it worse.

Full day computer jockey here + tennis elbow.. A few things
1) Get a ergo mouse.. i just started using it. But it is unconnected to the tennis elbow in my case. I have a regualr mouse that i use when i m going to office, but have an ergo for home. I have come colleagues who use an ergo in the office. Personal choice, it is more of a rodent than a mouse. So dont want to lug it around. I have a logitech MX vertical because it suits my style. Others are available

2) i have a sit/stand desk. again it is unconnected to the elbow bit. However, i learnt something recently, i had it at the wrong height. I used to have it at a height that I was comfy with. However, an office ergo specialist says that your arms should make a 90% degrees when you have them on the desk... That is appaently the most normal position and reduces stress on elbow and shoulder. Similarly chair height should be such that i creates 90 degrees at the knees. I had to move my table height to achieve it. I think i can see lesser strain. Might be worth considering

3) Get a t elbow strap from amazon. About 5 quid and it can help. I wear it occassionaly, esp when i have to lift weights/gym/bags etc. Really good support.

4) Explain it better to your wife :)

Brick and half a brush pole on a string.
Put a nail (netting staple is best) attach to middle of pole ,other end to the brick ( the ones with three holes in are best. .

Arms out straight brick should be on the floor.
Wind it up and down.
It’s extremely hard at first but as your forearms get stronger it’s easier.

This is what my Phisio told me to do for TE.
Start with 5 reps up to 20 per day ,don’t overdo it at first.

Well I wore the wrist brace they recommended yesterday and my wrist and elbow is in agony so binning that. Trying a different style to see if that helps but since the doc messed with it and made some suggestions it's got worse. Couldn't sleep properly last night as the pain is constant and that's doing nothing with it, as soon as a lift something or use it to anything the pain is worse.

Unfortunately work were not understanding and I don't blame them really. I had 4 months off this year with severe hand dermatitis which we have now got a handle on but the work load givien has exacerbated the elbow issue and taking it easy for 6 to 8 weeks is not an option really.

And I played my 1st 9 hole sof gold last week in 2 years and that will now have to go out the window as well...

sorry to hear... i m sure the Drs are looking into it..
If you are in so much agony at all times, is it tennis elbow or more bone related or soemthing. My tennis elbow was very contextual. If i put any load e,g picking up a bag or something, then i would get the pain. if i was not using it, it would be ok..
