Will be making some tablet and shortbread for my church‘s stall in town Christmas Fair this Sunday…thinking now that I might also make some mince pies…made a load last year and they went down a treat with the family.

I got the Tesco Finest crumble-top ones. They're alright but I feel like I should have just got the regular ones. They had quite a few different versions. Got a pack of 12 mini-ones also, literally just one bite and they're gone.

https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/302293311 - man, the customer reviews are poor on these, haha.
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/279513185 - not great reviews but I like the fact that they're bite-sized since a normal mince pie is like 250 calories or something daft.

Limited market here so I have a choice of one brand and one type, so that'll the best tasting/best value pies then.. but at least they're available for a few weeks

Calories, calories o_Oo_O

Don't bother with that nonsense when it comes to fun food. Just have a proper sized pie and enjoy it. (don't go regular, they are poor. Always go all butter or their special ones. Much, much better)

We got the Harrods ones last week! Very nice to be fair, as you'd expect. ?

I saw something online that rated Aldi the best ones, so we'll go for them next.

My tablet and shortbread went down a treat at last Sundays Christmas Market. Though I was giving the individual little bite size pieces away from our church stall, some folks offered to buy it asking how much for a bag or box. Now my Mrs is moaning that we could do with a little bit more income…?

I’d like to think my largesse encouraged some to come to our church Carols by Candlelight later that afternoon as we were packed out…standing room only ?

Anyway…mince pie making today.

Just bought a load from the local Christmas market. I have sampled a couple. Fantastic! Almost wafer thin pastry, not like the ones I tried yesterday, and full of filling. Went down great with a glass of brandy.
