Migraines Lordy Lordy.

Apologies and you are correct. HID is feeding me bum info. She's a nightmare. Imigram is for the onset but she's on Imipramine daily. She was on Propanalol before that but the doctor switched to Imipramine as they think it works better. She's definitely much better these days

I was on propranolol for a while but it didn't appear to make any difference so I stopped.

I probably get more than is acceptable but it's a lot better than it was if I avoid situations that are likely to bring it on and take a tablet as soon as I feel one.

Horrible things and anyone that suffers has my sympathies.

A friend of mine has a family member that has suffered with migraines for many years, with them being quite debilitating.
After many years of going nowhere they found a doctor in South Africa who was carrying out a different approach, which was stopping blood flow via surgery at different points in the body.
Apparently he discovered this after seeing patients who had long term migraine sufferers but had been in an accident that meant damage to their body or limbs.
Anyway, my friends family all clubbed together and raised the necessary monies needed, and she went to SA to have the treatment. The process is a little bit hit and miss, mainly due to its nature. However after about 5 minor operations and 6/8weeks in SA, she is home and hasn't had a migraine since. This was quite a few months ago.
They have tried to inform and pass on all this to the relevant migraine support bodies, but they aren't interested and don't want to know. Make of this what you will, but you can't help but feel vested interests are being looked after rather than actually pushing for what appears to be a reasonably positive cure for the extreme sufferers.

I second the suggestion of acupuncture treatment. While it did not stop my migraines completely, it did manage to suppress them for more than a year (unfortunately, it stopped working after that, but still, one year without migraines was definitely a good thing)

I always dismissed migraines as i had never had one, just used to think people were soft and had a bad headache. I have since had two and oh lordy how wrong was i! First one someone mentioned toothache in the eye, thats a bang on description. I was violently sick, the slightest bit of light hurt, movement hurt, it was awful! Touch wood, not had one for years. long may that continue!
