Have not (yet) got my Converse/All Stars. In the market to replace my bog standard Clarkes black shoes/oxfords. What options do people go for.. Would love a pair of Church but cant see the point when I can get 5 pairs of Clarkes for that price.
Where do the Sartorial golfters go to?

PS: For a change this might be a shoe thread that may not perk Imelda Homer's interest

I'll be first to put my head above the parapet. Hush Puppies or Timberlands (outlet prices!) are my preferred shoes. I have real trouble getting shoes to fit me so I tend to go with what works best for me. When Timberlands fit you correctly they are fabulous. Hush Puppies are just reliable.

Feel free to laugh, I accept I am not at the cutting edge of fashion :D

Timberland, Soloman and Clarks man here.
The trick is knowing your size 10, 10.5 and 9.5 respectively.
Never pay full price of course, got some great bargains over the years inc. a £10 pair of Timberlands and three pairs of Clarks for £60.

I wear Paul Smith for work/dressing smart. Price wise, most pairs will sit somewhere between Clarks and Church. For more casual occasions or for wearing with jeans I'm still a big fan of Clarks Desert Boots or Wallabees.

Very boring Clarks and Skechers for me with all my feet troubles over the years I stick to what I trust and know.

Depends on how much you want to spend. Base London do some really nice black shoes for around £65+, Loake are a little more but good quality and even River Island/Top Man do some quality shoes these days.
Casual like someone else said desert boat/Derby style shoes suede or leather.
Converse or vans for a pump type trainer.

i have some oliver sweeney, some ted baker shoes are actually good, some loake, but my wife picked me up a pair of primark casual shoes for 16 quid and they are awesome!

Skechers are my preferred choice for sheer comfort. I don't buy Clarks anymore as I think their quality has really gone downhill since they started manufacturing overseas.
I always have to try them on as comfort is everything for me. I never pay full whack though. I usually get them from TK Maxx or the outlet store when I am passing Gretna Gateway outlet when I'm heading south.

Timberlands work for me. (y)

With the main Clarks Outlet store not far from me most of my 'formal' shoes come from there (they sell a range of makes not just Clarks).
For day to day and casual wear I live in Karrimor walking shoes.

Loakes look good, but need to try them out..
Timberlands are always good but haven’t had them in this country.. fairly pricy
Never seen Sweeny

River Island!! Is that a real option for a man of normal proportions. I think I wandered into a RI shop once and it was full of thin ties, narrow suits, fitted shirts etc - nothing for a man who has seen a few good Christmas

I have 2 pairs of Loakes, both derby brogues. Handmade luxury on your feet, made by British craftsmen (allegedly).
Also have some Hush Puppies, various Sketchers and a good pair of walking boots. My wife would tell you I have too many pairs of shoes, and shes probably right:)

Shoes?
No idea what brand or where I got them from but they fit and I only wear them on the way to or on the way home from Golf...maybe the occasional event where trainers would be frowned upon..
