On the basis of "horses for courses" I'll be really controvertial and say that Tiger will win the Masters at Augusta and the US Open at Torrey Pines (he's won the Buick there in the past).

The USPGA is being held at Oakland Hills this year (of Ryder Cup fame) and, apart from Mr Hogan, this course has always produced one hit wonder winners. So I'm guessing it'll be a bible belt American who we've never heard of, who will get our goats up with his winners speech and who'll never win again. Why do we even bother watching this Tournament?

Birkdale is hosting the Open and it's tough. Guessing a class act will win. Possibly Justin Rose but more likely a grinder with lots of patience. Erm, Tiger again.

Tiger will get 2 or 3 of the majors this year.

I would love Segio to pick up one, but I think the scars of Carnoustie will need a little longer to heal.

No British major winner in 2008, sorry Justin!

US to win the Ryder Cup too (boo!)

Aren't I the prophet of gloom, sorry, it's the prospect of tiling my bathroom in the next 5 minutes that's getting me down!

Quite fancy Justin for the Open.

Mike Weir is comming back to great form and could be an outsider for the Masters.

US Open and USPGA is all about course management and Tiger is best at that.

I'll be devastated if and when the brat from Castellon wins a major. I hate him and think he's a complete k***. One of the members at the club here was telling me that his lad (25 years old and 3 handicap) had a job at the Volvo Masters driving the players from the hotel to course and back. The lad came home telling his Dad (also a reasonable player) that Garcia was a ''gilipollas'', which translated into English means w*****, t*****, or p*******. I don't resent Sergio Garcia for being rich, for being 25 years younger than me, for hitting the ball 100 yards farther than me or for bedding attractive young ladies. I just think he's a t***.
Sorry for the rant.

Fair enough shanker, I like him from what I have seen but you are entitled to have and to voice your oppinion mate!

I personally hope tiger woods misses the cut in every single major, wins F.A and so on.

I fancy rose to win a major next year and I feel that Harrington will again be in contention. Luke Donald and Paul Casey may also be in with a shout.

I quite fancy Vijay Singh for the masters, I think that will be the one that will definately not be won by a european.

Of course we can never rule out ernie els and many other fine players. Would love to see monty do it but with his current putting woes? I doubt it.

Too hard to call, look at the 07 winners apart from Tiger, basically anyone in world's top 60 could win on the week.
If however I had to put my house on it I'd go Tiger for Masters and USPGA, Els for the Open, US Open is so tight for driving Tiger can't win it so maybe another southern hemishere winner, likely a young Ozzie like Ogilvy or Baddeley, lets go Baddeley cos of his putting superiority?

I hope sergio wins one, I really like the bloke, so what if he acts like a spoilt kid every now and again so does monty etc.

Tiger will win 1 (not the open)

And all the others are a shot in the dark, would love to see another surprise win like Zach Johnson.

Tiger will clean up and win them all.

On the Garcia debate - whether you like him or not he's an interesting charachter (like Monty) and i love watching him play.

Can't even begin to imagine what's going to happen.
Can't see Zach J winning again at Augusta. Can see Cabrera and Harrington in the frame for some majors. Expect to see Tiger in the hunt for all except THE open. Justin will be there for all but the Masters. Sergio won't win anything much (sorry!) Steve Stricker would be an outside bet for anything in the US. Phil M could find himself in contention for the masters. Ernie each way for the US open. Vijay could pick up one...but I wouldn't bet on it. Luke Donald ought to do better.

Anyone have a better crystal ball?

i think Luke donald buckles under pressure at majors.
most golfers especially Monty make too big a deal about majors and let it get to there heads. I think sergio garcia has the technical talent to one day overcome that! Its a shame monty hasnt won a major he is running out of time fast!
I used to get nervous(still do but not as..) or excited i dont think nerves are a bad thing because they drive you to succeed . its learning to use/control them. obviously why Tiger performs so well, as if you didnt know!

Does anybody think that Westwood could find the form to bag a big one? My mate has £50 on him at 25/1 to win a major this season.
Yes! I think Lee could do it. He's got the game. I'll join you and your mate in a drink if he does it.
