Major Comps

Hi all,

During your clubs 'majors' do you still do nearest pins and longest drives as side comps?

Ours have mixed feelings on this one at the mo so thought I'd ask...

Our club is pretty 'straight laced' when it comes to comps. No nearest the pin or longest drives except on captains weekend. Everything else is just a straight comp

Same as GB72, all competitions are run properly with no side shows

Leave that for Pro's Tri-Am day

Proper golf for major comps and fun stuff for the captains thrash and texas scrambles etc

Depends on what you call Club Majors.

Very varied opinions about that at my place!!

Sometimes the Club champs is left off the list.

The Summer Shootout has only been run once so far but is the biggest event of the year.

We only have Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin on Captains Day, charity golf days and members/guest day. I prefer it as it's hard enough trying to focus on winning a major given where they tend to put the pins to worry about anything else. Plus the fact longest drive is always academic to a short hitter like me

Not played in many comps at the club yet but it seems that we have a '2's' in each comp - £1 in the kitty and shared between the takers.

No longest drives or NTP yet in the comps I have played. there will be some in the social gatherings I am sure
