Main dealer UK warranty

As I see it now, that only covers the initial manufacturer s warranty, extended warranties are managed by a third party from what I gather and I need to try and find out original policy.

Bottom line is that we were still ill advised by the service department when I asked if I could have the servicing done elsewhere last year.

I still think Honda are in the wrong demanding that the vehicle must be serviced by a Honda main dealer.
And that is my professional opinion.

Managing director @ Honda Canterbury

I’ve spoken to the team at Honda UK about the claim being rejected, to see if there is anything they can do to assist. They are currently standing firm that the terms and conditions clearly state that “To maintain your Honda Extended Guarantee, it is essential that your Vehicle is serviced on time by a Honda Dealer”, so are unable to process the claim.

Absolutely in contravention of the Motor Vehicle Block Exemption rules. Manufacturers cannot prohibit the use of OEM parts of services.

It get worse I think, theyre saying the whole poicy is invalidated by the independant service and its still got 12 months to run.

I have 3 more levels of escalation but they are all postal :(.

Going back to the quotation,
It seems to me they are charging you twice for the finding the fault, an initial £90 to diagnose & a further £129.60 to confirm it.

As far as I am aware, a manufacturer CANNOT dictate where or who does your servicing. The ONLY things that they can stipulate are that the correct parts are used, (backed up with a receipt showing this), that the correct intervals regarding mileage and time are adhered to, and that whoever services it are a VAT registered garage. As long as you can supply evidence that these have been adhered to you should have the law on your side.

Thinking about this that Law was an European Law and the fact Honda changed their T&Cs might mean not applicable any more - but note sure just a hunch

I'm not sure they did, I think the service guy was talking bollox as I'd explained we'd had a claim in October that was not rejected, with the same servicing on record.
I think it's down to this being a more expensive claim they've scrutinised the records at lot more.
