Shot a 69 (Par 70) quite a few times off yellows. Ironically, my best round was a 68 in a competition off whites. I need to start focusing on my golf rather than my running this year, otherwise I'll be getting nowhere near those scores.

Level par 72, CSS 72 in a board comp to win the oldest trophy in our club. Bogeyed the easy first, but got to 3 under after 13. Then made a few silly mistakes, knew I had to birdie the last for par so went with driver and nailed it. Pitched it to 6 feet and rolled across the break and in.

Satisfying? Not half. :)

In a comp it's 76 (par 70 SSS 71), I was off 12 and still didn't win the comp that day as a 24 handicapper came in with a net 62.

I've shot the high 70's quite a few times in comp's, my problem is all mental. I always have at least 1 blow-up hole but usually more. I shot a 78 which included a quadruple and a triple, I've shot a 79 that had 4 doubles etc. I'm just very poor at the mental side of the game, I lose my rag and beat myself up after a single poor shot, it's something I really need to work on. I can be sitting at 1 over after 12, double 13 and in my head I think I've just ruined my round.

In last summers knockout final for over 18 hc I shot a gross 83. OK there a few pick ups from a foot away but I am still claiming it ?
Hit 40 a few times since through 9 holes but not been able to see it through a full 18

Once shot a gross 35 (37 under par) at Pyongyang GC. Round of my life, holing them from everywhere, and I was sitting pretty at the top of the leaderboard until some bandit carded a 34. I'm sure I saw one of his bodyguards improving his lie in the rough.

This made me chuckle. A colleague of mine always brings this incredible feat up when we are a playing a round of golf together. You got to love some good honest propaganda.

The best I ever did was a gross 82, nett 60 in an August medal. I was having a lot of lessons back then before the birth of my little lad. He comes along, no time foe lesson, and the golf hasn't improved much and got worse!. Got myself down to 17 HCP; now back up to 18!

79 at Dewsbury many many years ago.
I love that course. When I was a kid I used to go past every day as we used to live in one of the houses attached to the old Victorian naughty boys school. (Now a care home). I spent lots of time walking the dog around the adjacent woods and course with the dog looking for balls.

My lowest handicap, a zillion years ago, was briefly a seven to which I couldn't often play.
Through most of my prime, I was an 8 or 9, and usually couldn't played to those either.
Now, in my dotage, I require a few more strokes, thank you, but still broke 80 four times last summer, playing well over my head.

On one magical day, many years ago, I carded a score which was not representative of my skill level, and because of that,
I hesitate to talk about it. It was only a few strokes fewer than a "regular" great day, but a few strokes are a million in golf.
It was also, I should add, in a casual, friendly, non-competitive round. Playing one's career round should occur in competition.

Jeez 11 under no prize. Tough school.
Yes winning score on the day was 13 under with 2 x 12 unders.

It was at a time when we had nowhere near the number of trees we currently have and the rough near the fairways was so short you could put a wood on the ball if you needed to.

Still a good score , you got to get the ball in the hole.

Don't know what my lowest score is... I might have had a 65 but can't say with any real certainty. Lets say no on that one. I do remember a couple of 66's...… edit; a 64 on a par 68 at an 'away' Open. The 2x 66's were on a par 71.

I think the 64, although only 4 under, on a relatively short course was the better round as it was a windy day with intermittent squally showers.
