I don’t think there’s any right or wrong way to play it . Personally I’m a safe type , my coach says if you can hit the desired shot 8/10 go for it if not play safe . I’m getting close to 60 and not that long of the tee so I end up relying on my short game because I’m a chicken 😂
8/10 times. Does that mean almost all of us shouldn't go for a green on a par three?

There is playing safe and playing smart.
A 530 yard par 5 at one of my old courses had a 230 yd carry over a burn then a large lake in front of the green.
Many a time I watched golfer 'go for it' and just carry the burn then lay up with a 5 or 6 iron
