Thought I'd throw this in here. The other day, clear skies, not a cloud in sight, the sun had just appeared over the roof of the house opposite, my daughter getting ready for work had her blinds open so she had natural light to apply her make up, she the went to make a cuppa and when she went back into her bedroom she could smell burning, hunting down the smell, it turned out her concave magnifying make up mirror she had left on her dressing table, had been left just so, that when the sun hit it, it made a perfect small (I'd guess less then 1/4 inch diameter) circle on a nail file, the edge of which was black and smouldering.

Not entirely certain it would've caught fire, but had it been on something more flammable it might have been a different story.

Mirrors can be very dangerous. We had our garden landscaped when we were on honeymoon and we had fake grass installed because it’s great for the dog and now with little one it’s brill no mess etc

Anyways previous owner had mirrors up in garden which Mrs liked so we kept

Sun reflects onto the grass melted a patch.. lucky the company replaced it free of charge but the mirrors are now gone!

You can add crystal glass to that list. One of the scalloped decanters I have doesn’t get left in direct sunlight.

Crystal glass decanter Brian. Bit posh aren't you. :smirk:

Bet you won it though :whoo:

I wouldn’t waste good money on a fancy bottle, especially as it comes empty... there’s a few dotted about, including a fruit bowl - more useless rubbish!
