Losing weight/fitness thread

Fingers crossed for nothing serious. I know when I did my Achilles it was awful last year. I put on loads of weight as didn't see the point in eating healthy if I couldn't run etc
Not that I think that's an issue for you.
I’ve got everything crossed as looking forward to golf this year as it’ll be first full year back playing and as a member of a club.

But I need to get this addressed and sorted out once and for all. All stems from that one idiot in the gym that caused me to over reach when he didn’t pay attention to what he was doing and banged into me mid rep😒

Im really struggling when i comes to losing weight. Im doing two bike rides at the weekend one about 15 miles all climbing at a fast pace, a 35 steady again with a fair bit of climbing. i also try and get a long ride on Tuesday or Wednesday when im part time. get a couple of evening rides low intensity. im eating less, drinking less. cut out a lot of carbs, but not lost any weight, in fact ive put some on
With all that exercise you could possibly have toned up more? Put muscle on?

I thought all cyclists met at the coffee shop, had a rest stop at the coffee shop and then finished at the coffee shop - all with added cake. Maybe this explains it? :ROFLMAO:

not me, my rides are all off road gravel in the middle of nowhere. though most group rides tend to be organised like this. the last fatbike meet we stopped twice at cafe's. i cant think anything worse than keep stopping and queuing for cake and coffee

Well that could have gone better! Dr has put me on a 28 day downgrade at work for sedentary duties only and to avoid any upper body load bearing work outs. Being referred to regional rehab unit, for scans to look into possible damage to the Ulner Nerve or Rotator cuff 😒
So it’s gonna be legs and core only for me till that’s cleared up , but he has said I can play golf as long as I don’t carry my bag (guess that’s an excuse to buy a trolly and bag 🤣)

Hopefully you get it sorted soon👍🏻

What, no brufen?!?!? :ROFLMAO:

Nope that’s how I knew he was serious not a single brufen or diclofenic prescription in sight. Straight to you need to see a specialist a you’re going to get worse before you get better statement. Cheers Sir now I’ll go explain to my CoC I’m on the magic chit and get ridiculed for being weak 🤣

I did one of the RRU 3 week rehab courses when I was in (heel injury). Swimming everyday, individual exercise programs and also well being sessions, bit of yoga and other stuff. If you getthe chance to do one of those, would highly recommend.

That was what he was suggesting for me to do, put me back to the physio for referral to RRU for scans and everything else. Sounds like the kind of holiday I need ☺️

Woke up feeling much better with my case of man flu.
So decided to do the Progression run, wish I'd done my easy run and left it for later in the week. It was also pretty warm for the run.
1.5 miles easy, straight into a mile at the following paces, 8:35, 8:15, 8:00 then 0.5 mile at 7:45. A 90 second walking rest into a mile cool down.

Hit all the splits but HR was probably 10 bpm higher then normal, Struggled for the last half a mile. Ended up with 6.7 miles at an average of 8:57 minute miles 🥵

45mins on the Watt bike this morning at a steady pace ended up doing 23.7km. First time I’ve been on one in a long time and I soon remembered I absolutely hate any form of cycling! But needs must and all that, might see if I can get to some spin sessions back home just to break the monotonous nature of what cycling is to me.

Finished up 20 mins of shoulder rehab stretches and mobility I’ve been given to do. That was worse than cycling, my range of movement is absolutely atrocious. Gonna be an interesting start to the golfing season and need some long warms ups to get it ready before each round.

Speed Repeats today, after warm up, cadence & glider drills it was 6 x 400m in 7:15 pace with 1 min walking rest between, managed to do all 6 between 6:50 & 7:17, but it hurt, session was done along the seafront again, but the wind was more across rather than sideways which definitely helped on some sprints. Ended with 10 min warm down.

Whole session covered 4.1 mile at an Avg of 9:16, 37min 44 secs.

What Gels/Drinks do you take on long runs? Personally I’ve only ever bothered with Haribo’s and water for anything over 10K.

The reason I ask is, there’s a young lady on Instagram who does all distances from 10k to Ultra, 55km plus, now I know some of these people are always looking for a “hook” to get more followers, but she’s trying different foods/supplements for her long runs to see what the benefits are, or not, and how they affect her.

First thing she’s tried on a 25k run? Cadbury’s Cream Eggs😂😂 she had 3 at the intervals she’d normally take a Gel and absolutely raved about them, actually found herself speeding up to get to the distance to have the next cream egg.

Might be worth a try😂

Anyone else use gels or something else?
