Losing weight/fitness thread

Am I right in thinking you have a Peloton Brian? Have you tried one of their strength classes? I really enjoy them as they keep me honest and not deciding a few sets will do and quit!
I do that Amanda, but I work away from home so am a member of a gym.
Probably a combination of Christmas Blues and now back to work, which for me is a 13 hour day, so even getting going can be a struggle sometimes 😂

In those circumstances anything is better than nothing (y)

Third Friday in a row without a takeaway, not that I’m counting. As a way of appeasing me, my wife had the idea of homemade ‘donner’ kebabs for tea tonight. We both sat there and just started laughing. Alright enough but nothing like a proper kebab. Already thinking of which takeaway I’ll be ordering two weeks tomorrow.

One thing that I’m bang into at the minute is Skyr bowls for breakfast or as a desert. Filling, low calorie and relatively high protein.

Try Tom Kerridge’s recipe for donner kebabs, it is in one of his weight loss books from his tv series. Tastes just like the real thing.

My wife did a home-made 'donner' a few years ago, using the slow cooker. It was pretty good but maybe more effort than it was worth, as we haven't done it again since.

We also avoided the takeaway last night - we made fajitas at home instead with halloumi on the side, which tasted good enough that it almost feels like a takeaway at home. 👍🏻

The Tom Kerridge one is quite simple. Lamb and spices in blender and blend to to a ‘paste’. You then roll it between grease proof paper then cook. Even better if you then blowtorch it afterwards to bring out the flavour. It is served on a tortilla with all the usual kebab trimmings.

My arthritic knee wont let me try running again. Wish I'd given it a try years ago when I could have.
Same. My knees from playing football won't let me run. I'd love to be able to but it's not possible other than a few km max.

Great dumbbell session this morning. Feeling progression now. 10 mins on the cross trainer to finish off too to get a sweat on. Jefit app really good. Getting used to it now.

More effort than it was worth is a good way of summarising my wife’s attempt.

Getting more into a proper routine with my exercise now. After golf today I reviewed my steps etc. Since Monday I’ve walked 55.2 miles. With a dog walk still to happen tomorrow, that will be comfortably over 60 miles for the week. I’ve done 3 cross trainer sessions (with another planned tomorrow) of 28 mins each and 3 weight sessions. Aiming to keep this up going forward (be happy with walking 45 miles a week and above) and hopefully incorporating a swim once or twice a week too.

I’ve found that getting either a cross trainer or a weight session in first thing on a morning makes balancing my exercise with family responsibilities a lot easier.

Why 28 minutes and not a round 30? Seems a weird time 🤪

Still waiting for the mounjaro to fully leave my system. Can't wait to be honest. It's taken a real hit to my mental health balance. Luckily I have my medication and coping strategies. Wife says she hasn't seen me this bad for 8 years. Still 8.6kg down in the 3 weeks I managed. 4th dose in the bin. However not all a loss we are eating healthier. Snacking less so if we can keep that going it's only a positive thing.

Can't wait for a full night's sleep tho lol blooming knackered .

Not a knock at the jab btw this. It works for many it just wasn't for me. Glad I noticed the signs before I went too much down a dark road

I don't (can't) run and restrict my jogging to once a week for fear of putting too much strain on knees. So most of my 50km a week is walking/rucking now

Got an email over the weekend from golf club saying they're restarting their evening fun run round the course next week (stopped at covid time) so looks like we'll give that a go for some added exercise assuming I can get away from work in time

First time in ages that I didn't fancy going to the gym today. So I didn't 🤣 Rough day at work and despite talking myself around I sacked it off, made a cottage pie and took the dog out on a longer than normal walk. Back to it tomorrow. Life carries on.

Before I'd have chucked the towel in, eaten a load of snacks and bought some beers. Maybe I'm growing up!! 🤣🤣
