Weighed myself this morning after my holiday, I've put on 10lbs (2% Body Fat), didn't think it would be as high as that but I went all in 😂 😂
Macros play a massive part in my opinion, depending on what you are trying to do, I have 210g of Protein a day, about 130g of Carbohydrate and 55g of Fat, the Protein target is a must but I'm not hard and fast on the Carbs/Fat.

Weight training is something I've been considering but I know absolutely nothing about it. Do you go to the gym or have a home set up? I hate gyms BTW 😬
I've got a home gym in my garage and am a member of a gym when I'm at work.
I'd really recommend this book - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bigger-Lea...29716455&sprefix=mike+matthews,aps,106&sr=8-5
I'm following his plan and its working so far, I could be more consistent but life gets in the way to often, as long as I'm seeing improvements, I've got no end goal and hope I can just keep on going and let it become part of my daily 'life'.

How do you manage 210g of protein a day??

I'm dreading Friday as it's weighing day and I've not exact been a good boy . If I can have lost a kilo I will be very happy. Got a round booked for the afternoon though.

Every day, 4 eggs and 100g egg whites & 200g / 300g Fage Greek Yogurt 0%.
Alternate days - 425g of Chicken / 10oz Grass Fed Sirloin Steak / 300g Lean Beef Mince 5% / 50g Gruyere Cheese.
Sometimes a Protein shake but try and get everything from whole foods.
Once you have finished counting, weighing and paying for that lot, how do you find the time and money to play golf? 🤪

I often go for 5km morning exercise walk (several times a week) but that does naff all for my upper body muscles and if i've any chance of caddying in 2 months time I need to get some weights in
This morning I stuck 20lbs of weights into a back-back and set off for the usual walking route. I'm fairly sure I'll feel the ache tomorrow but need to just work through it and do it again

Plan is to do this 'weighted' 5km walk 25 times over next several weeks... one done

Good start.

How heavy is a pro's bag on the tour? I'm sure I read somewhere it was over 3 stones - but I guess you don't have to worry about waterproofs and can collect water and snacks around the course?

Last time it was close to 20kg (about 40lbs) & it rained one day. So i figure if i start with half that and do the 5km non stop it'll be a good foundation (after all you generally don't walk more than 300 yrds with a tour bag before stopping for a couple of minutes)
Luckily plenty water stations round the course so only carrying 1-2kg of that at any time. The 'killer' bit was going up banks/steep slopes so I'll need to factor that into morning walk route too

There is far too much bro science and bull involved in weight loss and nutrition.

Look at the blue zones, or parts of the world that don’t have obesity problems. They eat lots of the food we are told makes us fat. Bread, pasta, oil and other fats, red meat.

What makes us fat is eating too much high calorie processed food without knowing how bad it is.
The wife started putting weight on and didn’t understand why. She didn’t realise that the coffee and pastry she was getting every day taking one if the kids to school was over 700 calories. Then drink another 3 or 4 all milk coffees with a spoonful of sugar at home and she’s over 1000 a day before proper meals.

That said. To lose weigh, as long as I’m taking in fewer calories than I burn I could eat anything. If burn 2000 calories a day just existing, I could eat 1000 calories of pizza, cake, pasta bread, cucumber, raw beef, whatever. It doesn’t matter, I would lose weight. I might not be healthy though.

This is where we and historically failed, a complete lack of education around food and its content.

As part of secondary school years 1-3 I’d like to see more education around content. Get a child to pick their top ten snacks and top three drinks.

Let them eat the choco bar and can of coke - add up the calories and then make them do the amount of exercise required to burn that off. Historically if a can of coke (pre zero) and a choc bar would equate to around 400cals. If they can do 30-45mind on a static bike/runner/rower etc depending on intensity, long term the understanding in content would equate to a healthier society. This could also work in conjunction with home tech or what ever they call it now. Educate on healthier options of ingredients available.

Start factoring that in for take aways and it’s a completely different outcome.

I've been "rucking" for a while now as I hate running, I have a 10kg weight in a backpack I bought with a compartment at the rear for the weight plate.
It's good fun and definitely makes the walk more strenuous, I believe it benefits your core and overall strength as well 👍
