Easier done though

Nice oneLost 8 stone and run around 25 miles per week, on track for 1000 miles this year. I definitely have slip ups, but I don't consider myself on a diet, just know what i can run off and what I should steer clear of. I'm at 14st 12lb at the moment, would love to get to 13st. I'm 6ft 2, so not sure how I'd look any leaner than that.
I think and I've known this along time is that I can be in deficit Mon to Thu and then I drink my calories over the weekend. Not excessively like when we used to go out out but having 2 pints, glass of white and 2 (slim) gin and tonics isn't going to help!!
Spin class this morning to burn off some of them calories and keep going.
On a positive note we didn't get a takeaway although after reading the takeaway thread I was desperate to get one.
That will definitely help. I don't drink fizzy pop at all which is another calorie guzzler.I strongly believe my lack of drinking is why I'm not even more heavy
Not sure that applies these days with being zero sugar now but they do ruin your teeth!!That will definitely help. I don't drink fizzy pop at all which is another calorie guzzler.
We'd probably be classed now as binge drinkers as we only tend to drink on a weekend. I work on Saturday night every fortnight so only drink really on a Friday night. Need to find a balance to be able to enjoy a pint with my wife after a long week yet still trying to lose the weight.
I wish I had known that in my early 20s. I used to work in a very hot electro testing facility and would drink 2 -3 litres a day, at that time I put on over 2 stone. That will definitely help. I don't drink fizzy pop at all which is another calorie guzzler.

We've all been there. Good intentions etc.The wheels fell off last night , during the day I played golf (31points) so i'd worked up an appetite, I phoned the good lady to say I'm in my way home and as told that she had a craving for KFC. Well who am I to refuse a lady , a ten piece bucket was purchased and demolished in quick time . I'm feeling very guilty now
She only cooked a roast dinner last night .We've all been there. Good intentions etc.
A calorie deficit is the only sustainable way to keep weight off.
Theres many fad diets out there that simply arent sustainable. How often do we hear people say " oh i'm back on this diet"?
This is the most effective way to drop weight as I found out about 7 years ago dropping 3 stone in 15-18 weeks. But there was an oversight.
by cutting out fats and heavy carbs, counting calories with my fitness pal, walking around 50km a week and working on a consistent deficit (approx 300 per day but up to 1000 on Sundays due to golf) as well as losing the weight I did also lose a percentage of muscle. This did result in some back issues according to my chiropractor as muscle density in the lower back is now on the low side, especially when carrying extra lumber (2 stone back on)
I’ve just started back on a health kick but this isn’t about just dropping fat, I need to build more muscle mass especially around an injured knee. The long term goal is to drop around 30lbs in overall weight, but realistically I need to drop about 45lbs in fat and gain 15lbs in muscle. In 2017 I was obsessed with the scales on a Monday morning solely dropping weight and it wasn’t the right way of doing it as it was purely cardio based. Now I have the correct gym plan weight loss will be a plus, seeing improvements on strength is the focus as the fat will be easier to drop than the muscle build.
I’m lucky that the misses has also joined in, and she cooks everything fresh so diets are easy. Leaving the choccy biscuits alone is going to help, and the will power to leave her roasties today was testing.
I did slimfast and lost a load of weight but like people who do slimming world and go back to 'normal eating ' they/me put it all back on.Before we got married we both did slimming world, wife lost a ton of weight as did I. However what we did find was afterwards oil cut straight through our stomachs, as we had got so used to not using it
Finally reintroduced it slowly into diet just little bits for cooking now and again (for example fried eggs my pans need a tiny bit of oil)
We could do with going back on it but not so drastic wise
Weight training is a must, this has been the turning point for me, I did weights for 3 years when I started offshore 2007, and was in great shape, then son number 1 came along and I just let myself go completelyThis is the most effective way to drop weight as I found out about 7 years ago dropping 3 stone in 15-18 weeks. Did a lot of running in 2018/19 but ended up skinny fat.
Already after starting weight training properly again I’m feeling much better.
Every session for me will incorporate, Squats, Deadlifts, Chest Press or Shoulder Press depending on what’s on my program.
Looking forward to hearing your progress
Weight training is something I've been considering but I know absolutely nothing about it. Do you go to the gym or have a home set up? I hate gyms BTW
