Losing weight/fitness thread

Was at my best mate's wedding over the weekend. Plenty to eat and drink all weekend...weighed myself this morning and was the same as I was Friday morning before we left. Will absolutely take that!

Back on the swimming today - felt a bit sluggish, but was to be expected after a week off.

My HOLY hydration powder arrived over the weekend too - which I was desperate for as my body feels like a desert after exercise.

First session back after a hit and miss few months. Still can't do any dumbbell arm workouts, limited shoulder exercises due to my dodgy shoulder. Did about 30 minutes on the treadmill and kettlebell swings and squats plus dumbbell squat thrusts which were just about manageable. Really feeling it in my legs still today!

Full body Weighted Metabolic circuit today. Realised that after that awful bug my lungs are still in rag order, so focus between teaching courses is conditioning work to get myself back to fighting fit.

A full hour of varying Kettlebells, 30” box jumps, rowing machine and ski erg for an hour has absolutely kicked my arse. But I feel so much better for it, same again tomorrow but with different exercises before another week of lugging the world on my back across the snow covered hills. Can’t wait to get back to training properly.

Another easy run last night, 4.40 miles in 44 mins.
Hamstring felt good, although my groin was twinging, very cold here again which probably doesn’t help.
Debating a Hyrox session tomorrow morning at 05:45, anyone done it and have any thoughts……

I do one or two sessions a week, the sessions I do are pretty intense cardio and explosive strength. If it a class led one, then make sure to let the instructor know of your niggles.
If they are any good they will be able to adapt it for you

Is this your subtle way of coming out mate? ;)

Not done Hyrox but a few mates do it - as far as I can tell - it's just circuit training that's been well marketed (much like Crossfit 👀)

Randomly did 30 press ups last night and felt alright so I'm going to try and see if I can start ramping up to 100 a day for a bit of body weight exercise.

Just make sure you do it topless with tight, skinny shorts on and put a video on socials. That seems to be the rules, from what I can make out :ROFLMAO:

Today’s session was a repeat of the above from sunday, so decided to do same 5 mile.

The session itself, run/walk 1 mile:

Sunday - ran 4 minutes, walked 30 secs - time for mile was 8:17

Today - ran 3 minutes, walked 30 secs - time for was 8:07.

Next time I’ll try run 2 minutes, walk 30 secs and see the difference, if any.

Overall today was 2mins 40 faster than sunday, which is pleasing as I didn’t mentally race myself.

Weight holding steady 2lb off in just under 2 weeks.
3rd Run/Walk/Run session today and I tried 2 minutes run, 30 seconds walk, with the amount of walking - 3 intervals, mile pace was down, but run sessions were faster.

Will keep doing as programme says, but run/walk/run over such short distances is just not for me, I think it could be good for distances over 10K and going to suggest the lads from the Pro Shop who I’m training for the GNR seriously consider this method for the 1/2 Marathon.

Good run overall, totally overdressed as taking the dog out early it was raining and windy, both had died off when I went for the run and I was boiling.😂😂

Enjoyable 1.2km swim. Made better by the knobhead with all the gear, who has no regard for anyone else swimming in the same lane, getting a telling off (rightly so) from some old boy who he barged into.

Felt faster than it was, which is slightly disheartening, but pleased with my technique over all.

5lb down from new years day. so decent progress. trying to eat around 2000 cals a day (i'm not strict) and aim to hit 10k steps a day or at the very least have that as my weekly average

Need to get stronger all this press up challenge talk i don't think i could do 2 :D have some weights that i'd like to blast about

This is basically my mindset - target that with some decent movement (I walk the dogs every day and now with my swimming on top a few times a week) and hopefully will see gradual improvement.

I'm basically eating the same things every day whilst I enjoy them;

Breakfast:
Protein Works Meal Replacement Shake (less calories than a Huel and tastes loads better)
Coffee

Lunch:
Burrito rice and veg (frozen from Sainos that I mentioned before) with some sort of protein (chicken/beef/whatever we have left over from home)
Greek Yoghurt (with a biscuit crumbled in for a bit of sweet treat)

Dinner:
White sourdough slice toasted (the co op one is elite)
two eggs perfectly fried in frylight
some tomato
and maybe some avocado if I fancy/have it.

More greek yoghurt OR some Banana and custard.

I've literally eaten that pretty much every day for the last 3 weeks except for the wedding this weekend and the odd day here and there. Makes it much easier to know what I'm consuming. Eggs with Sourdough is one of the greatest combos known to man, I've discovered.

yeah i eat eggs on toast pretty much every morning, the missus bought some aldi chicken sausages and tbh they're not too bad with eggs and 150 cals or something for 2.

I only eat the same for breakfast (weetabix), would get proper bored having the same meals every day. At least you seem to live a little by varying the protein at lunchtime :ROFLMAO:

Agreed, cannot imagine having egg on toast for dinner every day. You'd have a better menu than that in most prisons.

Went out for a 8 mile weighted walk today prep for the next 6 days ahead. Nice simple and simple 50lbs of weight, steady pace all done in 1hr 50mins.

Can’t wait to get back to some proper gym work.

As for food I find it really easy to eat the same thing over and over. I simply treat its fuel rather than food when I’m in that training mind set, makes the treat meals even better.
