I am looking some help and advice

There are 12 friends who all play at the same golf club here in Bangor Co Down, and to make our golf season that wee bit more interesting we were talking about running some sort of "Race to Somewhere". Most of us would play each weekend in competitions so we could give out points for 1st place down to 12th and aggregate it over the summer season. Not sure how we cover those that don't play in a particular weekend though.

Should we also add points if you actually win something in the club competition or get say an eagle or hole in one?

Any thoughts or idea's greatly received.

ps - handicaps range from 5 to 28

Nominate certain comps whether it be the monthly medal , first singles of the month etc have 10 comps with 12pts for a win down to 1pt for 12th place .. use best 8 scores of the 10 to give everyone a chance for a bad bad day or to miss a comp or 2

To make it intersting you could award double points for Captains prize day

Can you not make up a matchplay league and have a sort of play off finals weekend at a neutral club/weekend away?

That way handicap is irrelevant the only problem is ensuring all fixtures get done, but that shouldnt be a problem with 12 of you.

Was thinking a bigger difference between positions than 1 point, but again it's getting the right difference. Going with your idea does make it simple though. Liking the double points day!

If your going with more than a single point just make sure its not too big a difference so that if someone gets a good run of comps its over with 2 comps to go .. or you could have a League prize plus a top 4 matchplay final weekend 1v4 2v3 semis on Sat play off and final followed by beers on sunday .. throw in £5 or £10 each at start for a trophy or 2 , green fees will be free so no expense there..
