Longest Serving Forum Members

Signed up in April 07 after watching some of the antics for a while.

I remember turning up at Blairgowrie with John_Findlay for a meet and not knowing who we were looking for. I mean you can't say to the office manager that you're meeting Toad PHsycoJoe and Madandra, can you. Tht was a good day out that certainly led to a few other good days golf with friends on here.

I've been doing peoples heads in since July 2011 - God is that all?
Out of 6634 posts only 34 have been about golf. The other 6600 have you boring everyone to death with your football trash talk :blah:

I was early 08. Had lurked reading for about 12 months if I remember. Much like JF, I was addicted, came on every day. Was easy to keep up with the forum when it wasn't so big and I made some life long friends.

Forum was very small and had a brilliantly close, community spirit. Think we had one maybe two sections, and remember the 'Arrange a game' section being implemented.

First forum meet for most of us (north west contingent anyway, but will have been a first) was at Fishwick Hall in Preston. Wasn't a great course but do remember it being a strangely fun day. Lots of nervous looking faces all looking at each other thinking 'Are you a forummer' in the car park. Also remember driving over thinking I was a weirdo for meeting a load of strange men on the internet. My Mrs' still thinks its strange.

Anyone remember who attended this one, have any pictures?

Anyway, been up and down the country, played some fantastic courses and long weekends, Goswick being the cream of the crop for me. Hoping to get more involved again this year, when I eventually rejoin a club and kick start the golf.

May 2009 for me, used to be on a lot like some others have said but had to stop playing for a few years due to a couple of things I had going on but back at a club now so will probably log on a bit more. One of my first memories of it was almost being lynched for calling The Open The British Open, wasn't a Homer style flaming but pretty close :D

I remember the first one i organised it was to Muckhart we had a great day there as the course was in great condition, i remember playing with Craw, Stuart D and DelB think Andy and Farneyman were there as well, still in touch with these guys today. Have had cracking trips to Letham Grange, Dundonald, Goswick, Spey Valley and Machrihanish

1st April 2007 for me. Not a prolific poster but always been a prolific reader.

First forum event I attended was organised by ColinT at Frodsham many moons ago now. I played with Colin and ForeForTheDay who doesn't post anymore. Since then, it's gone viral and I've played countless rounds with forummers not just from the NW but all over the country, forged great friendships and played courses I thought I'd never play

I used to really enjoy JohnFindlays course videos........Nowadays they call them v-logs and they are all over YouTube. John, you were on to something there mate 😀😀

Happy days.

Dec 2007 for me.

Attended (possibly) the first South East meet in April 2008 at Gillingham GC hosted by MedwayJon. Also playing were Smudge and MVP.

That was the first of many, many meets and I have always enjoyed the company of those Forumers that I have met - many of whom are now good friends.

I popped my forum game cherry with John "helicopter wedge" Findlay that day. :D

I have no idea when I joined the forum but certainly wasn't anywhere near the beginning.

I joined whenever it says over there. <<<<<<<<<<<

Yes indeed. T'was a typical day with the flying wedges. Seem to recall nearly driving a par 4 then skulling it through the green. Tis' ever so. :-)

So, as a treat, I managed to find the original footage of that day, have edited it together five minutes ago and posted it to YouTube for your delectation. Never seen before. See if you recognise anyone?

I seemed to be the only one who ever took video back in those days. Rarely went to the Forum meetings without putting something together and no idea why I've not done Muckhart before now.

Yeah, Steve, the Dundonald video is somewhere there in the YouTube vids in my signature. too. Don't forget the Glen, Castle Stuart, Craigielaw and Letham Grange (which I won!!!) stuff too. :-)

That video brought back some memories, i nearly aced that par3, ball stopped 3ft from the flag easy 2 and only got a half as DelB chipped and putted . And Fabian ditching his waterproofs after 9 holes then got soaked on the back 9

Lol. Aye. Good times, Steve. :)

I'll really need to get to something again this year. Can't believe where the time's gone but my last forum meet was as captain when Scotland trounced/gubbed/battered England 20-12 at Goswick in October 2011. Think the fantastic Captain's picks on day one really sealed it.

Found the old video. What a great two days.

Hopefully more to come.
