Afternoon all from Turnberry, hope you're all well and looking forward to the Open getting underway

For anyone looking for a bit of an outsiders bet I had a chat some of the TaylorMade tour staff and they were saying Dustin Johnston has been striking it superbly in practice.

I have staked a modest couple of quid each way at 200 to 1

Maybe worth investigating?

Oh I dunno mike, with the weight of your bet on his shoulders, I reckon he will crack!
I mentioned in the whos betting on who thread, Ive put a few sheckles each way on JD and Ogilvy, either or and ill get more than my stakes back for the entire competition :D
Dont forget, plenty of souvineers!

There's long shots and there's complete long shots. This is a complete long shot. Can't see a top-10 here. Bet placed.

I have never yet bet on golf (and tbh, if it goes the way of betting horses they're dead in the water now) but fancy a go.

so for a total novice, what are the better bets to go for (not who).

Win, I think too risky
do they do Place, and what is it

Viscount, with paddy power if you back each way you will get top 7 places.

Get on Ogilvy, i've got a real good feeling about him this weekend and i've got 40-1.

have a few small bets on westwood, furyk and harrington at 28's, but my outside bet is zach johnson at 80/1. he's had a solid enough year so far. all each way of course

I have just had a few pounds on Ian Poulter, Ross Fisher, and Hunter Mahan. Also my long shot is Oliver Wilson at 125/1. All e/w with Paddy Power paying out to seventh spot so there s a chance.
