Liverpool Golfers - advice please.

Wow. That was certainly a baptism of fire at Wallasey today. First hole lulled you into a false sense of security but the next 4 holes were all into the teeth of the gale. I even played driver on two of the par 3's today.

Not sure what to make of the tenth which is a short dogleg par 4 with a raised green. The pin was right at the front but you had to play it to the back to stop it being blown off. You then had to hope the downhill putt didn't go off the green and roll 50 yards back down the hill.

Will be back to play it again when hopefully it is a bit less windy a bit drier and a bit warmer.

Thats not how links golf should be played!!

Glad you enjoyed it though, it's a cracker isn't it.

The 10th is the one hole that's out of place on the course, detest it.

Glad you enjoyed it, some of the tees are forward just now but it doesn't detract from the challenge particularly when the wind is up.

Nar, its a good hole IMHO because its unusual - embrace it.

Like the 7th at Pleasington, there are loads of generic holes that you have played similar or the same all over the place. Enjoy something a bit "fruity".

Maybe try a low running 8 iron as an approach..........or have you gone for it with a driver yet?

Especially the fourteenth which was a 400 yard downwind par 5. My mate was pin high with a wedge for his second shot there.

For views, yea the 4th

For toughness but not a favourite 17th.

For general hole cosmetics, playability and decision making my 3 favourites are;

11th, 13th and 18th.

I do really enjoy the 3rd and 12th though. The 12th is easily one of my favourite par 3's anywhere

What were your 3 favourite holes?

Obviously the 4th..........

The 4th is a great view, perfect for seeing your tee shot reaching 160 yards and then start heading back towards you but yes it would be in my top three.

The 16th is a nice par 3, if you don't get it to the green it comes all the way back down the hill and I would say the 18th but that is probably because it is always nice to see the clubhouse when you are cold and wet.
