Seem to remember there was a stableford on and when we arrived around 9.00 there were about 6 cars in the car park and barely a sole on the course playing the comp.

All those wonderful sand-based courses joining fees seem rather like debentures to be traded - as some courses actually have.
While Hankley is certainly near the top of my list of favourite courses, I'd never (nor could ever) consider paying that sort of joining fee!
But for a mile or so, I'd have joined Blackmoor as a country member, so Richart got fortunate! I can certainly recommend that course/club, though haven't played Liphook (nor Farnham) for comparison. Hindhead is also top-notch, though, imo, 2 nines! The greens have alweys been top-notch when I've played it and the half-way house is very good! Good after-golf hospitality too.
