Lee Who??? Luke Who???

Following on from yesterdays Ping Play Your Best Results, As many of you know, I was one of the lucky runners up, who get a Golf Day with Lee Westwood at Gainsborough on 9th July.

well ive been telling everyone I meet, even phoned a few friends (Who Wouldn't)

All the blokes have said " WOW Lee Westwood" Etc

75% of the ladies have said " Lee Who"??? including Mrs Fragger And Fraggers Mum

Im amazed that his profile isnt higher, he is one of the most successful sportsman that this country has ever produced,

I asked the "Who" ladies if they had heard of Tiger Woods or Rory or Luke Donald and they all had heard of Tiger & Rory so they arent entirely ignorant,However even less had heard of Luke. Most knew of Tiger because of the scandal and Rory because he has been splashed all over the back pages because of his Masters blow out and Major Win last year.

Im hoping both Lee and Luke win something big this year

Debatable.I like Westy and he's won a bucket full of cash and has a pretty handy ryder cup record, but I could probably mention 50 sportsmen (and women) that could be classed as more successful.I could probably think of 10 golfers alone.

I wouldn't expect someone who isn't interested in golf or sport in general to know who they were because they are not really celebrities. Tiger is Tiger and Rory got a lot of press for winning the US Open but Lee and Luke to anyone not interested in golf are just golfers to most of the population. There are a lot of film stars and pop stars who I wouldn't know if I bumped into them in the street but most people would instantly recognise.

I agree. Plenty of celebs I wouldn't recognise if I fell over them and to be honest you could probably take a host of sports stars at the top of their game and a lot of the public wouldn't recognise them. It isn't just Lee and Luke or golfers in particular
