Ladies in the comps

That's YOUR clubs fault for charging that, not the members. Do the women get all the same privileges? Tees 7 days a week, unrestricted?
You talk some fish man.
they get full use of the course just the same as the men and they get wednesdays as their comp day, they can use all the facilities the club provides as well as the rather posh ladies lounge,so the answer to your question is yes the get exactly the same as a men's full member would.

Would you like a spade to dig your hole even deeper?

And would you like to tell us the name of your club so we can verify your claims?

You really don't get it do you?

WOW! A Wednesday for comps, as oppose to the Saturday or Sunday that, no doubt, the men get. It is absolutely, without doubt, your club's committee's fault for allowing and pricing the subscription like that. Why should the lady members be give anything less than what they get if that's the price the committee sets?

men get one day a week for a comp, juniors the same and so do ladies and seniors, there is also a mixed comp weekly so all in all everyone gets the same only some pay a lot more for the privilege.

I bet the juniors don't get a weekend day either. When it's probably more accessible for most to play it's the gents that get their comp day - I would bet my house on it.
Again, your club committee sets the fees, they obviously see this as reasonable so why should the ladies suffer if that's the case?
You have the choice to join or not based on the available which I would bet is freely available and chose to accept the terms. Your club should charge the same across the genders but choose to ignore legislation.

As I have said before, the men at Ellesmere pay £800, we pay £545, we cannot play weekends when there is a mens comp on, our comps are Thursday, but maijors are at the weekend, as are mixed events.

All the lady members I have spoken to about this are quite happy with this arrangement, as am I as I do other stuff at weekends.

sat or sun,but this is traditionally when most men have days of work, the mixed comp is normally a sunday afternoon.

And women don't work these days, is that the attitude of your club? Traditionally from when? So, the big question, excluding mixed comps, are women free to play on a sat or sun when a gents comp is on, not withstanding the gents tee times obviously.

This is the kind of thing we're up against trying to get real equality - the demographic in ladies section tends to be older, not working, and quite happy playing during the week. Even better if you can get it cheaper. In truth most ladies sections are more comparable to the seniors section than the main men's section.

Things won't change until younger women, with jobs, can see golf clubs offering proper opportunities to them. Equal access to the course at weekends is essential.

Louise - I'm not having a go at you but I would NEVER join your club.

Equal fees means the requirement for equal access to the course at weekends. I can see that you're quite bitter about it but I imagine your committee is pretty happy with the status quo rather than giving up some of those male only weekend days; otherwise it'd have changed by now.

women can and do play on mens comp days( after the last tee time) and i have no problem with that, most men work a 5 day week or shift patterns, some men cant play in comps because a sat/sun is a working day for them BUT the still pay a full mens green fee and i thought the green fee was to gain access to the course and clubhouse, comps are paid for separately to your fees and is not the be all and end all of playing golf!

And I bet you're there making sure they don't play until the last man is in the bar.

Any chance of a reply to my question on the name of your club, or would you rather not say?

Well it's certainly refreshing that the ladies can get a tee on a Sat/Sun of needed once the needs of the working men have been seen to.
Men that work shifts choose to join and pay the fee as set out by the club committee, so I fail to feel any sympathy for them.
Until ladies who work (maybe even shifts you know) get the opportunity to play in comps at a time that suits them (i.e. weekends) then it is not equal no matter how you cut it.

You are correct. of course, I didn't know the situation when I joined, a local club went all equal and we actually gained some members from them. Of course in other aspects of equality, I am more than pleased.

Another thing about the club is that there is no membership process for new members, you pay your money and you are in.

Not quite equal though, would you say?

What time can the women play on a Saturday?

At my place when there's a men's comp on Saturday I could maybe play around 4 pm. If that was every Saturday I wouldn't be a member there.... even if compensated by cheaper fees.

Our Ladies comps are on a sunday, mens are on a saturday, you can play a non competition round either day after the comps. Mixed comps during the week and a fun mixed one on a sunday afternoon. Suits my missus who works monday to friday.
