Ladies in the comps

women and juniors should not be allowed in men's comps, full stop.we play off comp tees that are 20-50 yrs back from the yellows, they play off the reds and they have stupid htc how can it be right to have a double bogey putt for par.

Try reading the OP – it doesn't say it's a mens comp, at least one woman played, ergo it's a mixed comp.

If the course is set up properly there should be the red blocks for the normal ladies tee and there should be a marker for the full medal course, just like the men have.

That's what we have although have been to many other courses where the "tee of the day" seems to always be on the red medal tees. Our medal tees do add significant length to a medal round especially as the red markers (balls in our case) are usually teetering on the very front of the tee box. The 14th SI1 and 4th SI 2 can result in a very different 2nd shot from one to the other.

that made me laugh, hadn't noticed the typo :)

Just seems a case of sour grapes to me, it doesn't matter who scores the most points on any given day whether the are man women junior they are the winner.

Think it is more a gripe that the fella with 42 points has been beaten by a lady.

Golfdud Shame on you all at your club :) :) :)!!!

Storm in a teacup. It was a mixed competition the ladies got their handicaps from the red tee's, generally for handicap purposes the men get theirs from the whites. Thats what both played off so it seems right to me, they were just beaten by a lady on the day (which can happen).

Most comps at ours are mixed comps (apart from saturday mornings) and its the way it is, if you don't want to play in a mixed comp then either play on a saturday in the mens medal or play somewhere else. One of the reasons for joining my course was the size of the ladies section for my missus and the fact the comps were mixed. Its the future.

The long drive is a differrent issue which common sense would say have the mens and ladies long drive competitions on differrent holes.

Totally agree with the views that the winners is the one with the best score irrespective of sex. The course is set up the same. Long drives should have been segregated though as that doesn't make sense if the ladies have an advantage on that hole

that would suit me - at my away club all the reds are behind the yellows

what an odd thing to suggest!!

here is a simple suggestion, women can play in men's comps when they pay the full mens green fee i have never understood why women pay a fraction of what men pay, they play the same course use the same club house etc etc so in this age of equality they should pay the same.

EVERY club around my way charges the same regardless of gender. It's the young 'uns that get the discounts at my club. Suppose you will be telling us all the youngsters should get less privileges because they pay less, forgetting that they are the future of the club and the game...

<Yawn>

Pretty unusual to not pay the same nowadays. In fact women generally pay more than the men.

Get back to your cave - they do pay the same, never heard of equality legislation, hasn't it reached your neck of the woods yet?

i pay £855 per year green fee a woman member pays £520 same club same course.

Perhaps you have to pay more because of your attitude. Look at the equality legislation and you will find it is illegal to charge different fees for the same services - unless your club can prove that they need to charge less, for a limited period, to encourage more lady members, which doesn't seem likely to succeed with your attitude.
