Joined my first club today

I've finally done it.....after 3 years in the wilderness, I now have a home!!

I joined Vig's track, Mid Yorkshire, and played my first round as a member with 3 guys i'd never spoken to before!

Had my best ever round again too (in relation to SSS anyway) with an 80. I shot 78 last week but that was par 70 & SSS 65, my track is par 71 with SSS 68!

I was gross -1 for the back nine until I doubled the 17th, finished the back 9 gross +1 though so it bodes very well for the future.

Cant wait to get my first official handicap and get playing some comps

GPS is working ace fella!! It was 285yds on that hole today (measured it again as it was a belter) and then a 5 iron from 180yds to 8ft away, 2 putts for a birdie Eagle putt lipped out, I was gutted.

It shows that when I play it as a par 4 off the whites it can be par'd.

Erm....yellows, am I supposed to play off the whites to get my handicap?

Not necessarily - as long as you mark on the card which tee you played from the SSS takes care of it.

Some clubs demand whites. BUt you can't play on whites unless in competition and you need a H/cap to play in competition.........

Good to have a home isn't it. Get your cards in and get playing in those comps - I can see a decent starting handicap and maybe even a bit of money/silverware if you keep going

Its your course Parmo....far too easy fella, played it twice now and shot 79 & 78. I'd even stick my neck out and say I could shave another 4 - 5 shots off the 78 easily.

When are you gonna come and play a proper course?

I shot a +1 9 holes yesterday and ended on 49 points ocer 18 after two blobs lol... It can be easy on form but as I said I like the social scene to the club but the course hasnt been in better nick for a long time.

I am on my holidays from Sat for two weeks and a few 9 hole rounds are booked (due to the heat) so shall organise a round at your posh club soon
