So after a frustrating night at the driving range last night I have decided I need some more lessons.

I went for some the tail end of last year and worked mainly on my Iron play. This over the past few months has improved greatly. I am now regularly getting 140-150 out my 7 iron where as before it was a max 120 yards.

However the last couple of months my driving has been well... driving me mad.

Shots are going all over the place, when I do catch them they are good. But I would say those good ones occur 2 out of 10.

So its off for lessons. I looked about Edinburgh for lessons and was wanting someone who has trackman. I have found Scott Gourly @ Craigmiller Park. His Assistant Pro Peter has booked me in for a lesson on Friday. Going to book a block of 4 x 1 hour lessons and get this driving sorted.

has anyone been to see Peter or Scott for lessons. I know Scott is the go to man for custom club fitting

I can't comment on the pro's mentioned however like you I had an iron lesson last year and within 5 minutes the pro stopped me in my tracks telling me I only had 1/2 to 3/4 swing due to not cocking my wrists. Within 10 minutes I had a full swing and was hitting every ball out of the sweet spot, possible the best £20 I've spent.

My driving has been a bit erratic of late but after buying a new driver it is back on track, however on Friday I'm playing a very tight course where errant drives can be disasterous, so to make sure I get the best out of my new driver, I've booked a lesson to hone my skills and if I get a few extra yards and more consistency I'll be very happy.

Hope it goes well for you

I can't comment on to coaches but I also had iron lessons a few months ago and am hitting them much better but for about a month after I was still struggling with my drives when the irons were instantly fixed almost, I asked my pro and he said that while I had made massive improvements I still had a slight problem with my down swing which with irons is not noticeable but because of the lower loft, and longer shaft the driver just amplifies my problem so I just did what felt like exaggerated his tips for a while when driving and BAM all fixed.

I have a lesson about once every 5 weeks so iv probably had about 20 in total and iv never had a driver lesson as iv been taught to get my long irons correct first and then the driver will be so much easier. Lets say you swing out to in, the swing has to be fixed first as that out to in swing will have a greater consequence wih a driver. Iv learned this way and my driving is the best pat of my game at the minute.

This is what has worked for me but were all different SO this is just my opinion. Good luck
