After posting in the Mid Season Review thread that I thought a decent cut was close, I popped down the club to play in the midweek stableford.

Well I only went and shot a Gross 74 (+4 and 43pts) :D

It was off the yellows but is still the lowest gross score I have ever shot anywhere off any tees ever in my life.

I had 3 targets this season, to beat my PB, to get lowest gross in a comp and to get to single figures. PB is now done. I'm pretty sure I got lowest gross in today's comp looking at the other scores and my h'cap is down to at least 10.1 so single figures is almost in reach.

What with winning the footjoy comp and now this is turned into quite a week - I'm chuffed to bits

Superb shooting mate. well done

How come a comp was getting played off the yellows?

Re: It was off the yellows but I don't give a f!*k

They always play one of the midweek ones off the yellows because the old boys complain if they always have to play off the whites.

congratulations- great feeling isnt it, now go do it again, you know you can you've just proved it :D

first of all well done but surely they cant cut the handicap when you are playing off the yellows can they

Why, it is a measured course? The CSS might not be 72 but still valid.

Of course they can. It's a measured course with a SSS. The colour of the tee is irrelevant.

Well played Mike, congrats on the cut and have an amazing time in Ireland. What a week. You got your Friday night Euromillions ticket yet? It will probably be you!!! ;)

Funny you should say that Tiger, we did buy a ticket this week. We also found out on Wednesday that my wife's masters had been regraded to a distinction instead of a merit so we figured since good fortune comes in 3s we'd buy a ticket (I think I may have just blown any chance of the lottery with this though)

Great stuff Mike, congratulations! :)

Anything in particular that was better than usual?

I've felt something like that has been in me all year but too many stupid mistakes have cost me, last night I just didn't make many mistakes. I think it was more that I dealt with it mentally better than I have previously than any part of my game being any better. I tried to be more positive in my approach and it paid off.

Must have been a great back nine as I saw him on the 9th and he made a truly inspiring double bogey 6! :D ;)

No round would be complete without a double bogey, I 3 stabbed 14 for good measure as well :D
