I agree with youSo long as the Club sends out a message that its closed on Christmas Day and that members are not allowed to play, and perhaps a notice to that effect on the board then I'd think they would not be responsible if someone ignored it

Since when does a members' golf course need to be "staffed"????
What on earth are people going on about? It's a big piece of grass, just turn up and play.
And what has some random member of staff have to do with insurance?
BRSAssuming that the course is not staffed on Xmas day, how are clubs dealing with covid monitoring, contact tracing etc this year. Assuming that they are not letting everyone just turn up for a free for all.
Our on-line booking system won't allow bookings for Christmas day.Fair point, I had always assumed that Xmas day golf was more informal and people just turned up without booking. Guessing the club may still may have some obligation to monitor the behavior of those using the facilities so far as covid is concerned.
Right...
I'm going to post a Christmas Day golf competition thread just for a bit of fun and involvement for those who don't do the traditional thing.
Just need to check my course isn't closed first ???
I agree with you![]()
As per post #60 - Because of Covid, we have to book using BRS. But... we also have to "report in" on arrival and before teeing off - because an online booking isnt a record of who is/isnt on site. So it wouldn't work on Christmas Day unless we had someone on site to do the recording of attendance.
I'm not a lawyer so I don't know the correct wording but I think the idea is to show you have taken 'reasonable steps'. As always in the law the definition of what is reasonable is open to interpretation hence the proliferation of parasites, or claims lawyers as they prefer to be known. It's a sad state that our actions now are so influenced by the impact of these people.i am sure a lawyer somewhere will still try it on. if there's blame there's a claim
