Well looking for some info guys about our annual trip to the Emerald isle, this year we're looking at staying in Galway and have heard some good things about it nightlife wise:thup: but golf wise we're looking at Lahinch, Doonbeg, Conemarra and Galway Golf Club has anyone on here any experience or thoughts on these courses, cheers

Only played twice in Ireland and it was massively north of where you are, I played Enniscrone and Carne, after listening to advice on here. The advice was Bob on, the courses were gorgeous.

Only experience I have of that area Steve is Ballybunnion. If you include it, play both courses as the Cashen is a great track in it's own right. Much more 'dunesy' than the old course.

Cheers , i think Ballybunnion is just a bit to far to drive from Galway to be honest mate , i was staying in Kilarney again then we would have looked at playing there , but in saying that we met lads last year who'd played it the day before and said it wasn't in great condition and the greens had been done they've a new green keeper and they still took top dollar of them.

Live in the SW of Ireland myself but haven't ventured north for golf that often but did manage a round at Lahinch last summer. Really enjoyed it - it's a great course. The warm up short game area which was recently built is class and I could have spent all day chipping & pitching etc.
I've stayed in Galway and right enough it's a great town to go out in with plenty of nice pubs and I'm sure the food scene is good too. If it's during the rugby season and you're that way inclined a wee trip to the sports ground to watch Connacht could be a runner or if you fancy a night at the greyhounds you could check that out too (www.igb.ie).

Thanks for the info mate but i follow Munster and not Connacht :whoo:Lahinch is just over an hours drive from Galway i think ?, we're looking at staying in Salthill spotted a cracking apartment to stay in.

I was in that part of Ireland in the summer of 2015. Lahinch was great but my fave was Waterville - top course in great condition. Stayed and played at Doonbeg as well at the same time. Nice hotel but disappointing course. Some good holes but very squeezed in I felt.
Tralee not too far away - good fun - epic back 9....

Cheers mate we played Waterville and Tralee last year both fantastic courses also played Dooks which is a very underated course and Dingle Links, we stayed in Killarney which was superb.

Cheers, can't be any worse than our drive from Killarney to Waterville last year
Aye that's a bad trip alright!
Back in August I did Killarney to Lahinch at lunchtime for a round then back home to Tralee later that evening after the round - that was a red eye trip home 😴😴

Watch out for all those Mexicans that side of the border :p

Cheers Bill, booked up for Galway yesterday just awaiting word back from the courses now, hopefully all good news coming:thup:

when you're near Lahinch I'd recommend going to Milltown Malby, near Spanish Point, (visit Spanish Point as well) during the evening for a beverage if you enjoy some good traditional music

Also, be sure to visit the cliffs of Moher and take a drive through the Burren
