You would need to be certifiably insane or a real Apple hater to think that a cheap piece of crap like that is anything close to an iPad. And it should be produced anal, which is a more accurate description.

The iPad (any generation) is a much superior device in almost every respect.

Don't buy that, buy a used iPad first gen on ebay for around the same money.
 
the ipad2 has dropped £80 in most shops now, I think I may opt for this now just the wifi version.

the ipad3 isnt really a massive step up from 2. Just a better screen and a faster graphics processor.
It’s not as if the ipad2 screen was naff either.

But for an additional £60.00 I'd rather have the better screen

I have owned and used all manner of Apple products in my It career so can speak from a professional point of view. For the average home user who only uses the home pc or tablet for games and internet, the ipad is over priced. What it does, it does well no doubt on that though its limited in what it can ultimately do.
Android operating systems have come on in leaps and bounds recently, so much so that I have swapped my years of iphone use to a new Samsung Galaxy note, the screen is larger and every bit as clear if not more so. It has a dual core processor, better battery life and wider choice of things to actually do with it and isnt locked down to itunes nor makes it awkward to move files onto and from it.


I think this graph speaks volumes. Past year market share, if you can make it out, apple is hovering arund the 15-20% area, that pink line shooting up is the android market share.
Just because someone has a weakness for a brand, it shouldnt blinker them to the other options which sometimes can be a lot better.

But you have to remember that the Android market is made up of multiple suppliers with multiple handsets and iOS is only apple and singular handsets.

Im and Android user but think that these figures will always favour Android. You won't see any one Android handset sell like an iPhone.
 
Ios covers all apple mobile devices though so its not just iphones.
What the graph does show though is that Android is gaining popularity and market majority. If it was poor, noone would buy it, hardware is only half the story, if the software is rubbish it simply wont sell.
 
Agree, but over half the phones that are being released are Android powered.

I don't know anybody that uses a "normal" mobile, and will say it's a 50/50 split between Android and iOS. The ones that generally use Android are the more "geeky" that want the ability to customise the look of the phone (which I prefer).
 
I'd personally go for the ipad2 with the dropped price, don't think the enhanced screen resolution will make much difference to me essentially using it to browse, check email and watch the occasionalfilm/ skygo when the TV's occupied or I'm on hols.

I do like the look of the Asus Prime Transformer too and was giving serious consideration to this. When I asked the chap in Curry's the other week why I should buy one over the other, the answer was really about my need for apps. His opinion/ advice was that Apple apps work on all Apple ipads, whist Android apps may work on your mates device, but when you put the same app on yours, it may not work at all. Apparently SkyGo wasn't working on his Android.......

Stuff magazine gave the Asus a good review in the copy I read in the dentist the other day, I like the fact that it comes with a keyboard, but the apple bluetooth keyboard or the ipad dock system shouldn't be more than £50ish, so you could get the ipad2 with the dock for the original price or there abouts (whilst stocks last).
 
The problem is trying to get the IPad 2 anywhere now, as most places don't seem to have the stock of it. I may be purchasing an ipad 3 over the next few weeks, just got to weigh it all up I suppose, oh and convicen HID that it's a good idea.
 
Just got a notice round from my employer that they are offering all staff a scheme to buy an iPad3 with a "tax deducted saving" of around £110 on RRP, and allow us to pay monthly.
All that and I still don't need one...
 
Have been hearing rumbling of the usual screen issues (yellow tint) and speed too (it does have a huge amount of pixels to move around and intensive apps seems to be struggling).

Anyway unless somebody gives me a huge bonus then I doubt I'll be upgrading anytime soon.
 
I still have the original iPad and I love it, the screen on the new one looks good but it's not as big a difference as their making it out to be. I think the iPad is still way ahead of any android tablet, I was seriously considering one for my birthday but had a play with the galaxy tab, the htc one and another one that I forgot the name of, none of them were even close to the iPad IMO in terms of ease of use etc, ours is a family one and at first I wasn't sure that it was necessary, but I couldn't live without it now

That's a great deal, so around £289? Bit of a no brainer at that price, you can always sell it on if you don't like it.

I have the basic ipad1 and it's used by the family daily, it's an exceptional piece of kit and android is fine but you get what you pay for.
Mizuno irons or Dunlop irons? Both do the same thing but................:smirk:

Agreed, android ones do the job, but iPads are superior in every department, and I think the iPad 1 is still good enough to not warrant an upgrade to the iPad 3, maybe when the iPad 4 comes out ;)
 
iPads are great for browsing the net, emails and various apps
However they are certain limitations
Printing is an issue unless you have a specific compatible printer
There is no USB port so moving stuff around by memory stick is tricky unless you get a not very cheap USB adapter

And if you sit on it it snaps

Not long had an iPad2. For ease of use compared to a laptop, it's great. I use mine predominately for work. Currently using a mind mapping app to redesign the content tree for works website, which has been great. Having had an iPhone 3Gs for a couple of years, the iPad is so much better for almost everything compared to the small screen sized phone. The phone has all but been made redundant by my iPad now.

Yes there are frustrations with it. Particularly if I want to transfer files from work to home and vice versa.
