Was talking to someone a couple of days ago who mentioned that in his role at a golf club that he had got notification of a forthcoming merger in the mobile phone application used by IG, Club Systems and possibly another ISV provider....so effectively, they would all use the same mobile phone app. He had no specific details whatsoever about what the changes would look like.

Is there anyone out there who has wind of such a merger and has additional details?

Yes it’s happening , we have a webinar next week with IG

Many clubs that have transitioned away HDID are not happy because they have spent a decent amount of money to migrate

The IG app is very good , not many issues with it all

HDID is full of adverts and so far IG are avoiding answering if the new app has any

If this new App is the same then it’s only going to go one way

The IG app will go

This new App apparently is brand new

We already use IG and as you say, the app is very good, does exactly what it needs to do with no frills.

If a new App is full of adverts then I guess it will be available free of charge to golfers....or am I being unbelievable naive?

Will find out more next week and will let you know

They are saying it’s a far more user friendly app than both IG and HDID ( also Club V1 which is the 3rd one involved )

Would rather keep the very small cost of the IG app than have adverts

ClearCourse Leisure acquired Intelligent Golf (IG) in 2019 and Club Systems (ClubV1/HowDidiDo) in 2022. It was inevitable that there would be some streamlining and possibly work towards a single product.

The first sign of that is the upcoming merger of the member apps (igMember, ClubV1 Members Hub & HowDidiDo) into a new HowDidiDo app and website.

Very few details have been given so far, such as what it will look like and whether there will (continue to) be a cost.
While the current HowDidiDo platform is at no extra cost (funded by lots of adverts), the ClubV1 Member app is only available at higher subscription levels, and the current igMember app is an extra cost paid for by either the golfer or the club.

All of the current apps have massive room for improvement, so hopefully they have done a good job with the new one.

What this means for your members

The majority of your members will already be familiar with HowDidiDo - but they’ll soon notice that it looks, feels and performs very differently.

The new re-designed platform has been built from the ground up to offer:

  • Less confusion! No longer need for two apps: we are combining all the functionality of both ClubV1 Members Hub and HowDidiDo so your members no longer have to download two separate apps and navigate between the two - everything is now under one roof.
  • Vastly improved user-experience: with a clean, modern design, faster performance, and more intuitive navigation.
  • Enhanced features: including Casual and Competition Tee Booking, Membership Management (subscription and balances), WHS Handicap Tracking, Score Entry, Stats, Club News, Community Challenges (formerly known as Sponsored Competitions), Open Competitions and daily engaging golf content - all in one platform.
  • A more engaged community: uniting over one million golfers across more than 2,000 UK&I golf clubs, now under one unified system as part of Europe’s largest online golf network.

What this means for your club

  • More engaged members through the single usage of one mobile app.
  • Fewer admin queries thanks to a more reliable, user-friendly system.
  • Higher member satisfaction driven by improved communication and engagement tools.
  • Confidence that your members are using the most advanced platform available.

I can’t say that I am as excited as they anticipate.

The basic version is FOC to members.

Personally If I am using a phone I just go to the clubs website for the info that has to be paid for on the app.

My club uses IG, and as others have said, it does the job just fine. Hope they're not about to bugger it up.

Exactly this. The beauty of it is everything you need is right there on the start page and works simply. Someone will try to make it cleverer/fancier and just turn it into an annoying system of submenus.

Yeah - I do remember using HowDidIDo with my old club, and it was a bit fiddly by comparison with more superfluous rubbish to scroll through.

Indeed, but free/basic functionality is very limited.
Even paying the subscription, there is some IG functionality that is still only available through the website; and much of the functionality that is available in the app is actually only rendering pages from the club's member website anyway (diary entries, tee booking, top-ups, news, etc.) making it feel quite disjointed.

Hope, yes, we can hope, but you know what will happen really. Thet will think they know what golfers want and need and make a complete hash of things.

Latest responses in the News thread state "There will be multiple options available to ensure your members can continue to enjoy the ad-free experience they're used to."
