Don't know if this has happened to anyone else:

Played today and used the trolley.

Now, I use a stand bag, which when carried and stood, displays the clubs in ascending order, horizontally thus;

3w D 5w
4 5 6
7 8 9
SW PW
P

With the bag being mounted on the trolley sideways, obviously the clubs are configured differently.
Anyway, I had a shot to make which said 5 iron to me. Without paying too much attention I whipped out the 5, addressed the ball and let rip. Only to see the ball shoot skywards and land a long way short.

You guessed it, I'd pulled out the 8 instead of the 5! :o

I know, I should have noticed immediately, shorter shaft, more loft. Thing is, I just never even noticed. A case of grip and rip.

Anyone else done anything as daft? :D

Of course you should have noticed, how could be be so dumb.

I've never done anything like that before. ( yeah right )

I had an 8I shot left, pulled out my club and wondered why my PW was 25 yards short.

Now given that I had to adjust my set up because the club was so short, and I still didn't think to double check...

That must pretty much take the biscuit.

No, never. I've sometimes mixed my 6I and 9I, but as soon as I've addressed the ball I've realised. I could probably tell the difference if I was one club out, but would feel very silly for not spotting if I was *three* clubs out!! :o
