I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Beautiful day today. Forgotten what it’s like to play in sunshine! Course very wet in places but, for this time of year, the greens were mint, if a bit slow.

Hit it lovely off the tee and, if not for three 3-putts, would have shot the lights out again. 38 points and a share of the roll up pot.

I hate peaking in February!

Went out this morning with my mate. Pretty rainy when we started, but bareable. I managed to birdie the 5th. Weather took a turn after that though, torrential rain, wind making it freezing. We lasted until the 12th but couldn't feel our hands by that point so called it a day.

16 points for 12 holes. Very difficult to swing when I've had a stomach bug all week, and wearing a big rain jacket. Speaking of which, the "fully waterproof" Pro-Quip jacket I bought recently didn't quite hold up - bit damp underneath. My Eccos must be on their last legs as well as my socks were pretty damp. Same for the FJ trousers. I think maybe all these things are only waterproof up to a point, and that point was surpassed after the 7th. 😂

Not played for three weeks. Blurg to winter golf. Trudging though mud and whatnot with more clothes on that should really be worn. But on the upside I've spent a fortune on clubs, and am still looking, as I'm not convinced my 3 wood bought in October is the one for me.

Got out for 9 late yesterday afternoon and the course showed signs of a return to normal..
Played ok, still Carry Only so just the bare essentials in the bag.
Couple of birdies, couple of doubles but I wasnt really scoring...Just getting some air and exercise as its going to be manky for the rest of eternity....
Driving the ball well but irons seem a bit short on distance even allowing for the cooler air..
I think my swing speed has suffered with the lack of play this year....Just over a normal week's worth in 6 1/2 this year.......

We were open today, 14 holes all main greens - most courses in the area were closed but the squally rain despite it being much milder today meant that only a few brave/foolhardy ventured out. Preferred coffee and some balls on the range even though it meant listening to a blow by blow account of the Calcutta Cup from the lone Scot in our usual bunch.

No actual golf but fire evening back in the UK so went to the range with Mrs M. Watched her hit some absolute peaches with Driver and Fairway woods, little rusty with her irons but after 2 months of no golf she did well.

As for me, some good, some bad to be expected after the same length lay off. But overall quite happy, ball speeds massively improved so swing changes are working just need a run of practice and game to get it consistent , but driver was topping 160mph ball speed but not consistent of ball flight. Feel a new driver with full fitting is coming up as a treat to myself 😎

Finally.....signed up to play in the morning and the course had 11 holes open today. Dry and windy so it should dry out a little more. Should have a freeze in the morning though, but at this point I'll take some frozen bounces and putts on frozen temp greens.

Played for the first time today in what felt like ages.
Started with a birdie and finished with a birdie.
The 16 in between was rubbish but putted like a god to salvage a respectable but totally underserved 37 points.
Nice to be out in fairly decent weather and great company.
As an aside the clubhouse had normal coffee from a kettle rather than all these posh pretend coffees which was much nicer and half the price.

Back on main greens today, course is looking great despite the awful weather we’ve had recently.

Played some solid stuff, 16 points out, 16 points back. Missed a couple of very short putts which was irritating.

The other bad news was I managed to lose my card after 4 holes, and the head cover off my putter on the back 9. Hopefully someone will hand the latter in.

Nearly went out today, but the weather persons got it right. Rain started at about 9am........and it hasn't really stopped. Went to the gym. It's really paying off this year. I've been in there more than played golf so far, and all for £200 a year.

Can‘t complain : So far, 6 times since january 20th, but it was really cold, just above freezing.
But it sure felt like it because of the wind … ! 🥶

18 holes today. Right in the middle of the really nasty weather. 17-18mph winds and driving rain. Kept going though and carded a 78. Which given the conditions I am happy with. Some silly mistakes like forgetting that the wind was playing 2 clubs minimum into .. definitely not 2 clubs down it ( how does that work??) but all positive signs my winter work is on track.
Course greens were in good shape despite a light tining..
