I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

First game in 2 weeks after illness

Think I have forgotten how to play golf

Tops , duffs , pulls etc

Did very well to get 22 points 😂😂 and that was with 3 birdies on three par 3’s

😂😂😂😂😂😂
If you’ve had that man flu that has been going around, my commiserations. Took me about a month to get over it.

Also, I thought my 28 points with 3 birdies would be the worst round on the forum this weekend. 😂

11 of us played our usual skins format today.

Was in the first group out so had a chance to put some markers down on the 3 Nearest the Pin holes. Short par 3 10th I stuck me tee shot to around 12ft. 16th was playing around 170yds into a strong cold wind and a 3-wood finished about 9ft from the pin. The par 4 18th was a nearest in 2 and my 7 iron approach finished 3ft from the pin.

When the last group came in I joyously found that my name still remained on the 16th and 18th markers.

To top that off, I picked up 12 of the 18 skins on offer.

Played this morning and managed to acquire a poor 26 points.
Played rubbish and
Left every putt over 10 feet short and just couldn’t get used to the greens (my fault not theres).

When I got home I slapped the wife as I hit everything else fat today (this is a joke before anyone gets offended).

Out this morning for the 3rd time this year......once a week doesn't work for me ar all, I'm a 4 or 5 times a week kinda guy...
Hit the bogey train hard on the front 9.....finished 7 over with 2 pars......
Back o was better, a lot better.
We came in after 16 as the aroma of breakfast proved to enticing and the cold wind was kicking up...
To be fair, CVG's hip was starting to sing and my heel was grumbling so it was an easy decision.
I'd got to 30 points from the 16 played.....I'll take that....Just 1 over for the back 7....
The heel is not happy right now...let's hope it sorts itself out for Wednesday...may get the first full round since before Xmas under my belt.

I always play my best on the back 0. ;)

Thankfully booked in to play tomorrow as the course is shut today although looking at the forecast I think it’s going to rain all night again so might not be getting out.

Feels like it’s rained for 10 days straight, starting to feel like a couple of years ago when it rained for a month and everywhere was drenched.

One of those frustrating rounds. Played very good golf for about 15 holes - including two birdies on par 3s and very close to another one on the 200 yard 15th where the flag denied me. But chucked in 3 holes of utter horseradish that looked like I'd never played golf before in my life. Even putting went from sublime to ridiculous - at one stage I holed a 30-footer for par from the fringe on the 8th, three-putted from 10 feet on the 9th, then holed a 25-footer for birdie (and a half as my mate did the same) on the 10th! Daft. I still think pencil grip is working, I just need a lot more practice to get really comfortable with it.

Ended up shooting 81 with a mixed bag scorecard featuring 2 birdies, 5 pars, 8 bogeys, 2 doubles and 1 triple. 32 points. And annoyingly, my mate; who's had the audacity to go up to 13 so I had to give him two shots now; played very well and shot 79 for a 2 up win. Bah!

One positive is I'm now averaging more than one birdie per round in 2026. Hope I can keep that up. I've actually birdied the 6th, a 110 yard par 3, three weeks in a row now.

We are shut as well. Bit annoying as it’s actually a nice day for a change, perfect for a game of golf, but the course took a right soaking yesterday.

I'll be surprised if there are any courses in the area that are open with the amount of rain we've had over the last 10 days or so. Maybe South Shields? Ours was starting to get the big pools of water at the bottom of the 6th and between the 7th and 8th fairways again, like 2 years ago.

First monthly Stableford of the year at ours today. Still striking it remarkably well given the muddy conditions, especially from the tee, hitting 10 of 14 fairways, my best for some time.

It was only leaving several putts in the jaws which prevented me shooting the lights out. Still extremely happy with 37 points, which is leading as things stand.

Seaham is open, the drainage work we had done a couple of years back is really working well, a couple of puddles on 11th & 12th, but everywhere else is pleasantly surprising.

Been a decent day here today as well, bonus was the fact I couldn’t play.😱

Much better this week, hit it pretty well, wedges were much better giving myself numerous birdie looks in the 8-15 foot range. Unfortunately I didn’t make any of them but did have a 2 when I hit the tee shot to 4 foot so should get some money for that.

Ended with 33 points which was bit harsh as for the 2nd week in a row I lost a ball that must have plugged as it was nowhere near the deep stuff. One of those drives that leaks a little right, landed in the innocuous stuff but it didn’t bounce. Disappointed with that but overall much, much better than the dross I’ve been playing for a month.

Forced myself to the course today. 15 holes open. I wanted to try something picked up from AG session. Worked a treat. Got an extra 10 yards off the tee. Remembered a jon rahm pre strike thing and did that. That worked as well. So barring a wild slice off the 8th, it's tough shot, found 6 balls and mine, and the fact it was bluddy freezing, actually a good two hours.
