I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Blowy out there today but thankfully we avoided getting wet. Driving was very good, hybrid was absolutely on form 🥳. Had a mid round wobble with my putter where I lost all sense of pacing. That cost me in the end but I ended nett 2 over, stroke play today, and I'm happy with that.

That's now 5 competitions on the trot at my club with a spread of only 2 shots. Loving the consistency 😊

Didn’t even mention the wind in my update but definitely was blowing. Had 140 into a hole and hit a pitching wedge 25 yards long.

Think I’m pretty used to it now, as long as it’s not that cold north wind, hate that one.

May as well write 78/79 gross on my card before I even start. Nothing worst than a bogey, but no birdies. Few 3 putts from distance and 3 bunkers cost me.

How do you say....
There's some damn good scores in today...
Without sounding like you're full of sour grapes or questioning people's handicaps...?

Your friends very bitter but know what he means!😂

I made four mistakes today and got four double bogeys.
Very difficult conditions after some heavy rain last night .
Some very dodgy bounces parts were soft and others rock hard so just guessing on the bounce and I got some very bad ones.

Found another 27 holer near us that i hadn't heard of before, The Shropshire, played all 27 holes, poorly but that's not the point. Great day out.
Has a reputation for never closing and can be a mud fest in the Winter but always recovers well in the Summer. The 3 nine's are maturing nicley

I was talking to the pro in the shop and he said the rain last night helped but they've got a bore hole for watering anyway. Can tell, our usual course is in desperate need of rain but The Shropshire looked fine. Great greens.

Starting to feel as if my game is coming back since returning to playing.

Scored on every hole and one better than current handicap. Sadly though between by one of the others players who had steam coming from his every time he used the putter.

4bbb at Brancepeth Castle today, very nice course in Co Durham. Blimey it was blowy. Long course, tough course, not helped by it being windy.

Ended up with 37 points, took my score on 15 of the holes 💪 😄. Very happy with that, particularly as it was so windy, have I mentioned that? 🤭

Driving was good, 3 wood off the deck worked a treat and gave me a load of run. Putting improved massively as the round went on. I sunk a number of 3-5 foot putts that were very satisfying.

I'd like to go back and play off the yellows. Today I didn't use my 6, 7 or 8 iron at all. I used my 9 just the once. Just a lot of long shots to reach near to the greens. Tiring stuff.

Treated my mate/plumber to a round at our place this morning as he did me a favour fixing our bath a few weeks back. He's off 20 so we had a friendly match with me giving him 5 shots. Back nine first as I forgot it was a Monday and tee bookings in place whereas I thought it would treated as a weekend day - oops - but the assistant pro said we could squeeze in there.

I started nicely, parring the 10th and S.I.1 12th which put me one up, as he won the hole in between. He was battling a hook all day though, whereas I was fairly tidy until silly doubles on the 16th and 18th gave him a chance. I'm not particularly happy with my short game at the moment, with the hard ground it feels like the only thing I can chip well with is hybrid. He didn't take advantage of the 18th though as he also doubled, so I was 2 up at half way.

His hook problem didn't go away and I put my foot down with nice pars on the 1st and 2nd to go 4 up. He parred the 3rd and I three-putted it like I do every week (better than the four-putt on Saturday though!), but I restored the 4 up lead on the 4th, his shot hole, when he carved a drive out of bounds. Won the 5th as well to seal a 5 & 4 victory.

Let a shot go on the 8th with a silly missed putt resulting in another double there. Final score 84, so two better than Saturday, but not good enough to stop me going up by 0.1 or 0.2 I think. Never mind.

Driving was good again. Putting a bit better than the other day. Slightly less heel strikes too as I think I was turning better. Really just short game letting me down a tad at the moment.

Looks like he's been "done" 4 shots...... 😲 :ROFLMAO:

No warm up at all today.....then proceeded to have one of those front nines like the priest on Caddyshack. 4 long putts dropped. Hit a couple of thin shots that rolled out nicely. -3 playing off 6. Then of course started being more careful...which never works. 24pts on the front and 17 on the back. Only registered to put in a 9 hole card since it looked like we were going to get drenched....handicap is going to get hammered I think. Low score coming off....but this front nine is a lot better.

If you register to play 9 holes and then play a scorcher like I did....do they calculate it out like it was 18 holes?

10 shots...

There was a best 2 from 4 at mine today, team that had the best gross had a 136 total, winners had 122. Not sure what the format was but I'm guessing it was stroke play. Seems the winners had a net -22, not bad I guess.

Started with a 5 iron shank on the first hole for a double, struggled to shoot 5 over on the front nine, then had 9 straight 4's on the back nine, two birdies and two bogeys (par 3's)
for level par, so 5 over for the round.
