I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Playing in our Thursday rollup - as much as anything to get another old and counting score off the bottom of my record. It wasn't that I didn't try - but boy I made a bit of a mess of things - putting again letting me down.

Anyway - whatever I have lost off the bottom my 11.5 today isn't going to be the replacement - with there being a better diff in any record currently not counting. And if I assume it's now going to count although my HI will go up from 7.6 to 7.9 my CH and PH off Silvers or Purples won't change. Thought it might go up one with me playing in an inter-cub match on Saturday and in a Bogey format on Sunday.

Ach see me - I'm just useless at trying to manipulate my HI 🤷‍♀️ ;)

We had a medal today. I started well par, bogey, bogey, birdie, it started ging wrong on the 6th, a straightforward par 5 scruffed my 3rd from 100 yds , on the 8th a drove into trees and then duffed my shout out for a double bogey, 4 putted the 14th, took 4 from just off the green on 16, finished with a poor 3 over handicap, which should be going up next week when my low index increases.

I went out for some iron practice (much needed) first shot was a simple lack of closing the club, huge slice out to the right and short of the green.
There were several more similar shots and I got so fed up with them I went after 12 holes could not even be bothered to collect the ball from greenside after the final tee shot because getting in from the tee was far easier than getting in from the green.

So annoying as it is only happening with the mid irons get to a 7 downwards and it is fine.

Stratford on Avon in Seniors Open and played really well but didn't score well in that wind 😅😅
Course in fantastic condition ,but it does have fairway irrigation and suspect surrounds too.

Just call me Mr Fritter as I was an absolute master at frittering shots away.
I scored a very respectable 34pts on a windy old day.
I lost two balls, must have lipped out at least six time and had multiple 3 putts.
However, I was driving like a God today, I even managed to put one on the front edge of a 336yd par four only to three putt from about 30ft.
Oh, in case you weren't aware, my new P790s are gorgeous.
I'm looking forward to a small handicap cut, so I'll take the positives. (y)

If he had a low number of putts that suggests the opposite to me - that he chipped well and left it close each time, hence he was able to keep one-putting?

True - should have said his approach play rather than short game.

I walked 6 holes with him last night - he missed 4 of those greens in reg but every chip was within 3 ft. His touch around and on the greens is probably the strongest part of his game - the odd mishit off the tee and with his irons is where he will drop shots, but once he eradicates those there's a sub par round in there for him.

That's, kind of, why total number of putts is a misleading (at best) stat..
36 putts can still see you shoot level par...so can 18....
Putts per Green in Regulation is much more use..
Sounds like he's trending in the right direction though.. (y)

Played from the back tees this morning in a stiff breeze and it was a real round of two halves.

Struck it okay from the 3rd onwards, but struggled with the pace of the greens until the turn, frittering a number of shots away having hit greens, including an infuriating three stabbed par.

Got the hang of them coming back in, dropping only one shot from the 8th. Best I’ve struck it for a while, and certainly the best I’ve scored.

A very up and down 79 (36 points) today
Still breezy but the recent rain has sparked the course into action and it's looking very good indeed
Starting on the 10th I made just one bogey on that 9....plus a double..
Still, 1o points wasn't bad considering how badly I've struck the ball this week..
2nd 9 was, let's say, interesting...
Par, birdie, par start....then bogey, double, double.....plus another bogey on the last.....
Ball striking was much sweeter, driving was much more so-so, short game generally hot....
Small cut, back to 6.1

A Pp won the overall stabby with 41 points. Second was 36 points. I won div four by 4 points, second place in division four got 22 points 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👍
I was rammel.

Just got to the club for a 13:30 tee time in the monthly medal. 1st score in is a 75 (nett 63). To win I need to go round in a gross 6 under 64. Not going to be easy, especially as I haven’t seen a golf course for three weeks. 🤣🤣

I think that's one of the problems with live leader boards....
Might persuade some to not bother.......

Mr Consistent strikes again 😄. 39 points, thank you very much. 16 on the front, a mighty 23 on the back nine 💪. Sooooooo happy 😊

What was different? Front 9 was okay but I had to work hard for it. I missed every putt from 4ft out 1" to the right. Every bloomin time, no matter the length 🙄. Couldn't get my hybrids going, they were scrappy.

Back nine I really focused on my set up for putts, went zen. Straight putts suddenly went straight 🥳.

On my second shots my pp made a comment about slowing his swing down, really noticeably slower. I decided to do the same. Boom, the quality of strikes improved massively and I was threatening greens way more often. Combine that with the ability to putt straight and suddenly you have a good score.

I like golf like this, much more enjoyable 😊. No doubt the bubble will burst at some point but until then 🥳🍹

Terrible one for me today in the June medal, one of those where nothing clicks at all. Had a front 9 score of 48, which felt like it should have been 54 with how well I was hitting the ball. Started bogey, bogey, double, double, double. Inside 100 yards I was  hopeless. I thought, I'll be lucky to break 100 today.

Stood on the 10th, said, "right, time to turn it on". Promptly struck the ball really well, except a massive pull over to the next fairway. Saw it bounce, got up there, couldn't find it. NR. Ended with a 94 or something so won't be a counter on handicap, but typically a good score is going off so I'll go up about 0.4 for my troubles.

I think I hit one decent wedge shot all day. I also had a complete shank right onto the next tee box where my mate who's just joined was playing his first comp, nearly hit him 😂 Drove the ball pretty well, but missed about 5 four-footers just over the edge of the hole. Never got going and didn't deserve anything. Oh well, always tomorrow.

Shot a 4 over 74 in the end. 5 over out with three bogeys and a double. Back in 1 under with two birdies and a bogey on 17 as I had to take a penalty drop. Joint best gross but best gross on count back so will get some cash for that. Happy with the round considering I haven’t played for three weeks and there was a two club wind.

It’s not even going to be a counting score and I have a gross 1 under dropping off, so I might even go up a shot. 🤣
