I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Started with a 5 iron shank on the first hole for a double, struggled to shoot 5 over on the front nine, then had 9 straight 4's on the back nine, two birdies and two bogeys (par 3's)
for level par, so 5 over for the round.
You forgot to mention that the winner was a 34 handicapper?

No warm up at all today.....then proceeded to have one of those front nines like the priest on Caddyshack. 4 long putts dropped. Hit a couple of thin shots that rolled out nicely. -3 playing off 6. Then of course started being more careful...which never works. 24pts on the front and 17 on the back. Only registered to put in a 9 hole card since it looked like we were going to get drenched....handicap is going to get hammered I think. Low score coming off....but this front nine is a lot better.

If you register to play 9 holes and then play a scorcher like I did....do they calculate it out like it was 18 holes?

I'm not sure how they work it out - it sort of involves calculating another 9 holes and your handicap for those, and then giving you net pars + 1 for them? Something like that, it's all a bit of witchcraft.

I put in a +2 nine the other day off 14 (or 7 for the holes played) and got a differential of 12.3 or something. I was excited for a big cut but it never came.

If you play another 9 holes then they join them together to make 18 holes.

In OZ it does not matter if it is the same 9 holes or on another course, crazy.

Not how it's worked since last year. Now they do this expected score lark. At least in the US and the UK

Almost felt like putting this in the irritation thread. Played another decent round today +4.....which is good and it will drop my handicap to a new low. Currently 5.3 but should be around 5 in the morning. But.....harder to beat the guys I play with so a bit of good-bad......

That is crazy, who on here can say they know what the second nine score will be like.......
my last round was 15 & 19 points.....

I'm a master of posting completely different scores through the front nine and back nine. Last year it was always the back nine that i struggled with, but now weirdly it's swung the other way.

Little h/cap cut for the youth overnight after a 6 over round yesterday

23 putts in total, with just ten on the back nine. Not sure whether that's a good or a bad thing.....

After Saturday's good round I thought maybe I was about to embark on a run of decent scores but sadly not to be as I was gash last night again.

+6 after 6 holes and all my fault as I made it to the tee 6 minutes before we were due to go off, so by the time I got my shoes on, stuff out the boot and set up, into the clubhouse to sign in and get to the tee it was time to go. No hits into the nets, no loosening up etc and it showed on the early holes. Really need to make sure I get there earlier to hit at least 10 balls into the nets to at least get moving before the first tee, sitting in a chair for 7 hours then trying to swing a club isn't great.

After the rain this week the greens were quite a bit slower, left 3 putts 2 inches short right in the middle and pitching onto greens felt like a bit of a lottery, land it 5 yards short and they dig their heels in and stop, land it on the green and it releases 20 yards through. Really frustrating night.

+7 front 9 and +3 back with a beautiful 4 putt double on 16 that put me in a great mood. Another raise to 4.6 and I'm not even putting in decent scores to cover for the ones falling off.

Definitely a good thing to get the ball into the hole.

Yeah - his short game must have been off - but looks like he managed to keep a good round going with some solid putting - which in fairness is one of the stronger parts of his game. Hardly ever see him take 3 on the green, and if he's over 30 for the round he's generally disappointed.

If he had a low number of putts that suggests the opposite to me - that he chipped well and left it close each time, hence he was able to keep one-putting?
