I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Played in the Pro Shop Stableford yesterday, won Division 3 with 37 points but only came 13th overall- damn you low ‘cappers winning all the competitions! 🤣

0.5 cut and dropped a shot so good start to the season.

Another tough conditions day, wind was blowing a fair bit. Our 2nd is a 560 yard par 5 and I had to hit driver, 3 wood, 3 wood to get there. 18 is a 390 yard par 4 going the opposite way and I drove the green. 😂 Missed the 20 footer for a 2 though.

Finished +9 for 32 points, looks like 37 is going to win with 35 second and 34 third. Hopefully there is a PCC which would give me a respectable differential for the handicap as I need it.

Mate shot +1 in those conditions and really should have been under par as he putted poorly for him. Just really, really impressive to watch at times.

Also, 34 entries in Div 1, 38 in Div 2 and only 17 in Div 3. Who says low handicaps don’t play stableford? And you didn’t have to enter to get a tee time.

Monthly knock with mates at Pine Ridge, I drove it horribly and that cost me, irons were ok & short game was pretty good, but too many big numbers due to poor drives. The back 9 consisted of six pars, two doubles and a triple!

Foe the first time in four years my handicap will be back in the 10’s, need to knuckle down!

Bummer, only a PCC of 1 which seems very harsh considering the conditions and only 1 guy from 82 managed to play to handicap or better. I guess it's because there were a bunch of 34 and 33 point results.

Had a frustrating round yesterday in the medal. Hit most of my shots well but ended up with a net 75. 6 holes were double or worse.

Not quite sure what I did to cause it but I am putting it down to one of those days

So.........last Friday I shot 77(38 points) and went up 0.3...
Today I shot 78 (37 points) and go down 0.3...... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

A very solid round today, just 1 dodgy tee shot that managed to recover a bogey from and my bogey hole becoming my double bogey hole due to some, quite frankly, remarkable bounces that defied gravity and several other laws of Physics.....

After not picking a club up for three weeks, I was fearing the worst. Yet I shot 43 for 31 in club comp and 32 in the fuddle comp for the front nine.. I was a machine. The back nine was rammel.
However highlight of the round. I was In The last group of four and called into the toilet from the 9th to the 10th. I was the last to the 10th tee and a PP asked me if I fancied a mini sausage roll. I placed it on the trolley handle and walked to the tee. Just as a PP was ready to drive his ball. The guy who gave me the sausage roll said “ Tash a crow is nicking your sausage roll”. I looked to my trolley and this bloody great big crow has grabbed me sausage roll a done a runner. I was wetting myself laughing. I have heard others on about it but it was the first time I had seen that happen.

@Tashyboy I feel you need to applaud in that situation, well played that crow.

I've had half a pan au chocolate pinched by a crow on our 10th hole. It always used to hang around there but I didn't think it would grab off the trolley. Lesson learned, but it did make me laugh.

I was playing with my sil at her club last year and saw a squirrel climb up her bag, into one of the pockets and search around for something. There was nothing to eat but it was a great watch. My sil was not overly impressed that I just let it happen but what can I say, I love the ingenuity of a squirrel 🐿️ 🤣.

Animals and golfers food, great thread potential 😄

When I mentioned it in the club. A PP told me he had a crow go in his bag at the same hole. It lobbed a scone out of his bag and took a bigger sausage roll out.

Everyone loves a squirrel ................................. surely!

Mixed foursomes match tonight on a beautiful evening. Great match as well, very close. Giving 6 shots, we were one up several times, one down twice, but got it over the line in the end with a 1 up victory. I played very well, my partner didn't really, but she has carried me before so I returned the favour this time.

Will do the write-up in the matchplay thread, of course, but a great evening's golf and roll on the next round. 💪🏻

Midweek Stableford with the young un.
Out behind the Rabbits so it was a tad slow. Played OK but just couldn't find enough pars out there - 32 points.

Jamie had a 6 over front nine and 2 under back nine - 7 pars, 2 birdies, very tidy golf.
He wasn't in the comp as he can't win any money as a junior - shame cos that would have looked pretty nice on his EG record.

Played in a Scramble at Broomieknowe nr Edinburgh yesterday, we played ok could have been a couple better but ended 7 shots away, 50 won twenty under par, that's it for me, not playing anymore scrambles, shame as I enjoy them, virtually all Scrambles round here now are being won with scores greater than level birdies but as far as Scottish golf are concerned all's good as participation numbers are up, that's what they told me at least in their reply to my email. I try to play off a genuine h'cap, never been lower than 4 or higher than 7 currently off 6.1, sadly it's another format along with matchplay, gents pairs etc that there's little point in entering, just bounce games with my mates I think, at least I'm only losing £4 that way !

Fabulous day at Oakdale, Harrogate, today. 4bbb open. Glorious weather, one of my favourite places to play at.

Course was in cracking condition. Greens a bit woolly but that's in order to protect them so fair enough. Very strong off the tee, until the last, a wonderful downhill drive that I pulled into the woods running tightly down the left hand side. I've done it there before so it's in my head now 🤪. 3 wood off the deck worked well, it runs and runs so perfect for these conditions. Wedges were also strong.

40 points, very, very pleased with that, I scored on 11 of the holes so more than pulled my weight. It's the best I've played around there, still beaming now.

I need to retire, midweek golf in great weather at nice courses is so much better than working 😂

Oakdale, one of my favourite courses. The par 3 9th is an absolute gem.

I first played it representing England against Scotland (a Fire Brigade thing and not nearly so grand as it may sound) and I should have played it again when I organise it as part of a golf trip to Harrogate. I dropped it for Rudding Park on the recommendation of a mate at my club. I still haven't forgiven him for that one, nor Rudding Park for the 5+ hour round.

I would go back to Oakdale in a blink. Wasn't/isn't @Mandofred a member there, and I believe he doesn't like it much.
