I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Played Bamburgh on the way up to St Andrews on Sunday. First knock of the golf trip. The winner of the first day got the Kingbed in the apartment for the trip.
Early morning tee off and the greens were frozen but sun was shining. Little breeze made it a tough test - especially having to pull driver on the 208 uphill Par3 (SI 1). All round decent knock from everyone. I won Day1 by a point - Chipped in for par on 17 to secure the big bed :ROFLMAO: Get in.

Played the Old Course the next day after a few too many Guinness the night before. Forced down a Scottish breakfast in the club house and a few shanks on the range to warm up. Not many places quite like St Andrews for pre round anticipation/excitement. Weather was perfect. I shot 8 over which I was happy with (with a quad on 16 that I wasn't happy with:mad:). My mate plays off 11 and shot 74! He was at -1 on the 17th tee box. Teeing off on 18 my other mate hit a huge slice which smashed into a car parked on the road:LOL::ROFLMAO: his face watching his ball cut 90 degrees across the fairway is something I'll never forget. All had a great round - 41 points, 44 points and 46 points. I was 2 points behind after Day2.

Final day - Jubilee course - dreadful front 9 from me. 5 points behind after 9 holes. Had a great back 9 and was in the lead by 1 point on the 17th tee box - a simple par3 (plus I had a shot on the last hole so the trophy was pretty much in the bag). Until I shanked a 5iron OB (y). Hit 3 off the tee - straight into a bunker... triple bogey. Lost by a point:ROFLMAO:

Sounds like a great time for all involved - apart from the car's owner!

Once more Tashyboy was the man. Four club challenge. Tash went with Driver, 5 wood, PW and putter.
18 points front nine with a blob on a hole I get two shots on. 21 points back nine.
Joint winner front nine.
Overall winner with 39 points.
Now for a couple of years and I am being generous with the truth. My game/ driving has been rammel. And I mean proper rammel. I seriously thought about stepping back for a month. It was killing me. It was only the crack with the lads that kept me going. If I had not stumbled across videos of my crap driver swing I would not of worked out what was going wrong. Players I am playing with now are astonished at my change when stood on the tee.
However there are grumblings in the fuddle. The lower handicappers are whispering about a maximum handicap. It won’t happen.
A PP said today. 4 of the lads today will go out picking clubs that give them a chance of nearest the pin. They want the money.
The oldest and best player in our group who won two nearest the pins whispered he wants a max hcap.
Said PP said point blank “ it ain’t gonna happen, they have been happy taking your £5 twice a week for the last two years so they can sod off”.
I said to said PP when I finished today “ if I win owt today I would be more than happy to take a shot reduction for exceptional play if you want to bring it up”.
He told me “ it ain’t gonna happen, they had a chance to discuss this beforehand, they didn’t so they can shove it”. So now I have plummeted to 23 hcap in the fuddle.

Happy days indeed.

For the first time in ages.....things might be getting better. Hitting a lot more good shots. Still quite a few ** shots....but hey, things are looking better. I haven't played well since about July. I cycle through a play well phase, then depression as it all falls apart as I try to play better. Fool. Then the long slog to get back to swinging easier and not "trying".

Another hot day, started bogey par birdie so thought I was back on track, but after hitting plenty of good tee shots, the irons to the green let me down, had 30 points and not sure how I achieved that many, first thing I did after golf was to have a cold shower to bring my body temperature down.

Have cancelled golf tomorrow as it will be hotter then today, will play twilight golf on Friday, a 9 hole comp and then it is supposed to drown to 35C on Saturday for an 18 hole stableford.
I’m not sure I’d be able to play at those temperatures. Do you need to take a buggy? I can’t imagine it would be fun walking around in 35C for 4 hours.

Range session last night with Jamie.

He’s in a full length shaft in his driver but tends to go down the grip a little to compensate for his height (5ft 5in)
I suggested he gripped it at the end just to see if he could still maintain control - result was a slight fade, but nothing he couldn’t play with. It’ll be a shot for him when there’s space up the right and he wants to try and get some extra distance I guess..

Does he normally hit a fade? Looks tidy to me.

Looks like a great swing tbh. From my untrained eye his hands seem a bit far away from his body at address, they look like they are out past his head but if you are hitting it like that, who cares.

He’s actually been coming inside a little which has been giving him a slight draw, but when it got a little out of control he was hitting out of the heel or even thinning them a little - so the fade is something he’s happy to have, as he would have struggled to get that before his last swing change.

He can still shape it right to left with his hybrid and irons - something he was also working in last night.

Sometimes I ride and sometimes I walk......it's not the temp that is bad but the humidity,
normally we have a dry heat so not much humidity but lately we have had 85-90% and that
is a killer.

Played this morning. Keeping my recent trend of hitting the ball quite well (coupled with recovering well when I’m not).

Two temps today due to some ongoing clear up from last week, but managed to get round in 72 (+5).

Annoyingly I was +2 through 15 and just seemed to loose it a little on the last three holes. No doubles on the card at all though so a positive to take from it.

My mate was level through 9, then he was +6 through 10 😬. Understatement to say he was raging 😂.

Played superb today, only came in with 34 points, but driving was A1, first 3 holes were terrible, but after that settled nicely, had a real mindset change which I hope will stand me in good stead going forward 😀

What was supposed to be 9 holes turned into 16. Much better with the flat stick, rolled a few on to save par and a birdie on 14. A few chunked chips but understandable given how soft and wet it is at the moment.

Took the demo Qi35 driver out. Not convinced…. It’s very grey looking, prefer the darker black of my 3 year old stealth. Also seemed to hit it worse, even with my stealth shaft in it….

My old man took the QI35 out yesterday as well for a hit, he didn’t like it either, straight back to the Ping.
Think the new Ping is out this week as well though.

Played in hot weather again, two bogeys one birdie the front nine, not so good the back nine, four bogeys one birdie the back nine for 37 points....25 handicapper won with 40 points.

A two hour 18 hole yomp around the glorious Allendale this morning. More for exercise than golf but took the new driver out and it's a lot straighter, this messed me up allowing for normal shot shape🤣

Stunning surroundings on a still but frosty morning - really getting away from it all. Myself and two other groups on course - fabulous.
