I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Final of the seniors matchplay today, after yesterday's runner up position I had a 0.3 cut which meant I was giving another shot so just the index 18 where there were no shots.

Started well and 3 up after 3 but lost the next two and turned 2 up.
Lost 10 and 11 to be A/S, halved 12 and 13 and won 14 with a birdie after a lovely 5 wood from 200 yards out.
Lost the 15th to a very good up and down for net birdie but was gifted the 16th to be 1 up with 2 to play.
Hit two decent shots on the 17th and was about 25 feet short of the green and opted to putt, as anyone who has seen me play knows how iffy my chipping is. Bad mistake, made a right hash of it for a 6 and lost the hole to a nett 5.
Halved the 18th so onto extra holes, just short in two with opponent about 12 feet away for 3 net 2, felt I needed to hole mine and opted for the chip, duffed it 12 inches, lipped out with the next but my opponent now had two putts for the win and sealed it.

An enjoyable match but one I feel I let slip away.

Twice the runner up in two days.

The Beige Bridesmaid..... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:;)(y)

Nice 18 holes this afternoon, lovely weather, back to shorts & polo thought the shorts were away for the winter.🤷‍♂️

Some good hits, some average shots, no real bad shots and Driver working really well.🏌🏻‍♂️

Dreading the weekend comp now!😂

It was sunny and quite warm today up in NE Derbyshire. So headed off the 10mins drive to Stanedge GC just outside Chesterfield up on the edge of the moors I went. A lovely little 9 hole (actually 10) set up and only £26 for the round. Wet in many parts but given the rain eminently playable, and fabulous views. Plus with v little run on the fairways this place has two of the toughest par 4s I’ve played this year, or indeed any year. Even though I’ve played the course a few times now, they are real toughies…and you have to play them twice 🙄

Great fun and great hospitality in the clubhouse.

Had a lovely day at Huddersfield G today, the weather was fabulous and it is a lovely course, the greens were very slow nd the bunkers not great but still very enjoyable, I played decently, started well but fell away a bit sadly missed too many shortish putts and struggled to get the ball to the hole.

My good form continued today with a +3 which should see me get another cut and definitely into the 2.x tomorrow depending on PCC. I'm fully expecting it to be a negative number again if enough scores go in as it wasn't cold today, there was next to no wind and the greens were a little receptive as well. From our group alone we shot -3, +1, +3 and +4, with 3 of us beating our handicaps.

Missed a couple of short putts again but also rolled in one from around 22 foot to at least get one of them back. Just annoyed at the poor finish, I was +2 for the last 3 holes with a silly 3 putt on 16 and a chunked approach on the last after thinking to myself "final swing, lets make it a good one".

Soggy, soggy, soggy. I suspect if midweek the course would have been closed. Anyway, an improvement from last week, much better ball striking. Caught out by the overly sandy greens, extra sand applied midweek, 5 weeks after the initial tining and sanding 🙄. Cost me 4 points from crazy golf style bounces and bobbles. Frustrating but that's winter golf.

Really enjoyable day and round
34 points in a corporate Open , winner was a bandit (48 points) but it didn't take the shine off the day
Really nice open air BBQ F&B incuded too

Visiting Scotland this weekend, managed to get off the leash for an afternoon and have just played the Seafield course at Belleisle Park in Ayrshire. Don't think I played great. I always play too quick when I'm on my own.

I was amazed at how quick groups are to let you play through up here. Back home you can expect to be held up for 3 or 4 holes before they begrudgingly let you through, here, I had already been waved through by 4 different groups by the 7th tee! While this is admirable of course, it also contributed to me rushing more shots as I felt like I was playing at 100mph.

Managed 80 for 35 points (short-ish course, only received 10 shots), but I'm not going to lie, I had two Mulligans for stupid shots I wasn't concentrating on, and a free drop when I was distracted trying not to hit some 'wee neds' (as they call them up here) who had jibbed onto the course on the left hand side! Quite an enjoyable course though, would like to play it when it wasn't muddy and I wasn't slicing driver like a tit, as there were a few driveable greens. Weather was class as well, bit of breeze but the sun was out, played in shirt sleeves.

Burn Him

Got out to add another score to my years total. I carried as the weather had been so wet. But to be honest my stamina was poor and I faded over the last five holes ☹️. However new driver was long, definitely got the numbers correct.

Two man aggregate stab comp today, weather was unreal, shorts and polo again😱

Driving and putting was spot on, great front 9, 20 points on my own, for some reason my iron play disappeared for 3 holes on the back 9, finished with 34 points and a team score of 66 points. 8 x 1 putts helped immensely.

Society game today. Last minute course change meant a longer journey, across to Wales and a bit of a rush to get on the first tee.

Played reasonably well, winning two par three pots (£22.50 each) and not coming last!

Driver performing well, as are my irons. Still experimenting with two wedge set ups, but can't get the fairway and woods working as I would like.

If every hole was a drive (220 for me) and a 7 iron (140) down, I'd be great. Yes, I wallop a fairway when I'm further away and know I shouldn't...

My worst game for months.

Driving was great - 10 down the middle, 2 pushed slightly right, still decent hits, but found trouble, only one proper poor drive, on 18 when I’d lost the will to live.

Everything else was pants. Who knew you could shank a hybrid? I did. Twice.

Left every putt short, green were very slow and I just couldn’t bring myself to give them a bit more.

I’ve been doing a lot of work on my bunker technique recently, that deserted me as well.

All in all, a day to forget.
