When I lived in London you could always tell the mad Aussie on Sunday morning going to the store to get the Paper in short's in January. (not me by the way)
 
P.ayed 14 holes yesterday afternoon...what we call " extreme weather holes" or Temps ;)
Some greens were still frozen, some thawing and the rest of the course was getting softer by the minute
Spoke to the head greeny and he reckoned it would be carry only until Friday at least and may even be closed tomorrow to let the deeper frost come out.
Going to be foggy anyway so no hardship there...
Scored quite well, drove well and made most "greens"...putting was hilarious...:ROFLMAO:
Might not get out until the weekend...seem to have played so little golf since November - haven't played a full 18 this year and for someone who plays most days it's killing me.

I've signed up for Friday and Saturday. The last of the snow is still melting here so things should start slowly draining off by tomorrow. Friday is possible, but I wouldn't be shocked if it wasn't open until next week.

Our snow was gone in 24 hrs....it's the frozen ground thats the issue now....thawing but that's when the damage occurs
 
Out this morning for a plodge through the clarts - my first game for 4-and-a-half weeks.

Bashed it all over the shop on the front nine. 4 pars, 4 bogeys and a double. 41
Back nine was better. 3 pars, 4 bogeys and 2 birdies. 37

5 par 3s done with 4 pars and a birdie - so that at least is encouraging.
No 3-putts all round.

Enjoyed a few glorious minoprio shots with that 2-iron. 🧐
 
11 holes open today .
On temps.
Thought it would be busy ,got there midday not a soul.
Course was really good considering the snow we’ve had .
Temps not great never got my putter out at all.
But lovely walk in the park clubs on shoulder .😊
 
Played some terrible stuff on the front nine, missed two easy birdie putts to turn with 14 points, then played solid the second nine, three putted from 15 feet trying to force a birdie, then missed two more very makeable birdie putts to have 18 points coming home.

Playing early tomorrow to try and beat the heat, going to be 36C, so tee off 8.30

Good news is I dropped a flag so handicap going up, so might be competitive soon.
 
Finally out on the course yesterday - boy was my body feeling it last night.

As to the golf just about as good as expected - so erratic some really good stuff and some really bad stuff, putting which is usuall my really good was well off, I reckoned I dropped 8 shots just to poor putting. Was leader in the club house until the last of the 4 groups came in but never really expected 31 points to win. Only 3 of us broke 30.
 
Out mid morning for aw many as CVG's legs would handle - he hasn't played since before Xmas..
We managed 16 and I was at 33 points to there......pretty pleased with that..
4 or 5 "extreme weather " pins - or Temps ;)
A different driver helped - see Golf things that gladden the heart....
Struck the ball well.
And we didn't have mitts, wooly hats and handwarmers in operation...
 
Shot 9 over par, had a 4 putt as well, if this course was in the UK it would be a non qualifier due to the conditions, but we are still putting cards in, good for me as I went out point 3, so handicap going up, now off 6 on my other course on Saturday, cannot remember the last time I was that high, look out high handicappers I'm coming for you.
 
One course finally open this morning with 1 hole closed, and carry only on all temp greens. I'm not driving 25 min to do that. The other course isn't very quick on updating, but I tend to think they will still be closed. I was hoping to play that one tomorrow, but not sure about that either.
 
Played La Vie, formerly Muscat Hills, today, impeccable condition, only 3 or 4 2 balls playing all day. If that is what all golf in Oman is like, I’m going to enjoy the next few rounds.
 
Been very happy with the golf this weekend. My driving has been good, very good at times. Closest I have come to a drag of brass today a 20ft putt 3mm from dropping cost me a share.
Happy Tash at the moment. Just got to cut out the silly blobs.
 
2nd week of the Seniors Winter Eclectic today, didn’t play to bad, first time back on normal greens this year, very happy with that, no birdies, but quite a few Pars and just 2 double bogeys, both on Par 3’s🤬
 
I didn't play today but did 90 mins practice first thing this morning as prep for the first comp of the year tomorrow
Draw is out for the shotgun start and I'm off hole 2, so a nice short drive back to clubhouse at the end
Forecast is decent and wind about half the norm so I'm out of excuses
No chance of placing in the stableford comp just concerned with my own gross score
 
Well, they finally got both of my courses open.....kind of. Oakdale opened for the first time this morning, but only 9 holes and temp greens as well. I was signed up to play in the morning but have taken my name off....no way things will be better by then. Ripon open, but only 15 holes and all temp greens.....so no golf either place for me. Maybe Monday......
 
So this happened yesterday afternoon. (My second one in my golfing career!)

One bounce and spun back in to the hole, apparently - I didn't see it as the hole is slightly raised above the level of the tee, but three guys playing adjacent holes saw it and clapped me on to the green :D

I played in our 9 hole twilight comp, started with a bogey, missed a four foot putt, then missed a birdie from 5 foot on the second....
not happy, made a 10 footer for birdie on the third, now I'm happy, then all par's till the 9th, index one.....good drive, three wood and still got 10 yards to go (par 4), poor chip and 2 putts bogey, 1 over.

Would take that for tomorrow in the main comp but know golf is a crazy game.
