Took the day off work to play the December midweek Stableford.
13 drives all long and in play.
5 par 3 greens hit or easy chipping range.
Chipping great. Putting good.
On the 18th tee my pp predicts I'm on course for a win and points out I haven't lost a ball all day. 😱😢
Finished with a blob after smashing a fairway wood into long grass and losing my ball.
Best round at my new club and 2nd on countback with 36 points. I'll take it.

Played for the second time this week today on a cold and very frosty course. The one advantage is that I had the course to myself both days. Still playing with the 20 year old Big Bertha irons and a 20 odd year old Progen driver and 5 oversized metal wood which I decided would be my winter clubs. The problem is tho I am hitting these clubs better (and further) than the brand new TaylorMade irons and woods I bought two years ago. I am beginning to think I might just keep these clubs in the bag all year round. Suppose it shows that all that is new and shiny isn’t always best.

Heavy mist verging on fog at times but little wind so it didn't feel too cold.
A solid round, no birdies, 1 double but lots of pars.
4 over on both 9s is acceptable especially when the bal, disappears into the gloom..
Nobody in front, nobody behind, 3 1/4 -hours of natter with one of my oldest mates....
And then breakfast
Interestingly, I was trying an idea out today...
The slot between my 4w and 5 iron has been a longstanding problem....7 woods just go high with a million revs of spin, 3 hybrids go the distance but with little carry.
My wonky swing....
Tried a Titleist TSi1 20° hybrid today..supposedly high launch, not as high as a 7w.
Trouble is it has a 40g Senior flex shaft in it...feels like a noodle....but I hit it 200 yards straight as an arrow....high enough to carry over stuff but not too high.
Go figure

Off work today, so had 12 holes on my own, missing out the soggy ones. No wind, sun out, 5c. Therapeutically calm. Played well, getting better with my new irons. So far, the fairy dust hasn't worn off 😄.

Making a conscious decision to move the ball back 2-3cm in my stance and that is really helping. Very enjoyable morning.

Played in 27C today, made 8 straight pars then bogey on index one of the course, not bad as I had drunk 6 stubbies by then, sp pne over, hit it to 20 feet on the 10th only to 3 putt, then soft bogey on the next two holes, beers are kicking in now, but still managed to finish 5 over par.

Crazy time for us out here as we drink a lot of booze and just enjoy ourselves.

Cold day out there, first real try of the Caley irons now they have the Nippon shafts in them and sporting their neon orange livery.

Got to say I am impressed with them, every bit as good as my i525s for a fraction pf the price.

Played quite well, 2 birdies and a chip in eagle on the 7th after driving just short of the green. As usual, couple of blow ups but still held it together for a 4 over 71. Still frustrating.

Also had a better ball match going on and it took my partner nailing a bird on the 17th to take it 2&1. All round some decent golf being played.

Weather was surprisingly mild today , course in great nick , greens lovely for this time of the year

Saturday early swindle - 2 under front 9 , silly three putt on 11 but a couple more birdies to give me a 3 under 39

Over the winter we do an eclectic

Just needs to find a birdie on 1st and 10th to have all 18 birdied

Course in great nick, quality 4 Ball for laughs and giggles, only put 4 Clubs extra back in my back after this weeks 4Clubs & a putter comp, do 8 and a putter, scored 1 point less 😂
Only 7 clubs in my bag at the moment to make carrying a little easier.
It seems to suit me.
December Stableford today and it's looking like I came top with 38 points to go one better then Thursday's performance. A good week for me.

Was going along very nicely until I contrived to miss a tiddler for par on 15. Must have been no more than 9 inches. Melted my brain. Then hit 3 terrible drives and ended up with 2 points on the last 3 holes, missing 2 more very short putts in the process. Ended up with 33 points, should have been so much better.

34 points in our stableford yesterday. Surprisingly mild day in the NW. I was level gross after 11 but then the works Xmas party the night before kicked in. Dropped 5 in 4 holes before missing a 3 footer for birdie on the last.

Last Friday I played Burnham and Berrow with 7 others.
Best score was 31
Absolutely no wind, course was immaculate and greens pure and quick.
Just a very difficult golf course.
Sounds like it was good. Is the course rating & therefore course handicap not meant to take into account the fact that it's tough?

I’m sure it does
I have played it many times,it’s just totally different to my home course.
Not playing a course this tough every week it certainly felt tougher than previously.

Nice 18 holes with a couple of mates this morning, all of us played steady, at times good golf,
Mild weather, course in really good nick, especially for mid december.
