I'm not expecting many entries in here this weekend, but it could be interesting reading if there are though 😱

Is anyone still expecting to play?

Played Maverston golf course yesterday, cracking wee course and no mats which was a surprise.
Only downside was, we caught a 2 ball on the 7th and we were waiting at every hole before walking in after 15.
Round was only £20 as well.

Went out this morning to play. Lasted 9 holes. I was 4 over but felt sod this for a game of being smashed around by the wind

3rd Rnd of Winter singles KO. Weather grim but playable...I would've happily postponed but oppo wanted to play. Giving three shots.

Started not well - poorly in fact - but on 7th holed a swinging 20ft uphill cross slope putt for a half else 4dwn. Then won next two so turned 1dwn...funny how matches swing. Back nine giving shots on two holes played bit sloppy but holed good 6ftrs on 14, 15 and 16 to keep me in match and so to 18 all square. Oppo missed green to left with his third. Hit my third to about 25ft. All to play for but not looking forward to going up 1st again - and giving a shot on 2nd. Anyway - he chips to within 3ft and I leave my putt about 6ft (that distance again) short. I hole my 6ftr and he misses his 3ftr. Job done.

He shrugged disconsolently - how did he lose that? Well..I holed putts when it really mattered and he didn't. 4th round to be played by early Feb - hopefully weather might improve a little. Grim today. But v pleased with result. Matchplay - don't you just love it.

I expect we'll hear from AussieKB ................................... the lucky sod!
Yes I played......shot 4 over on Saturday, only had 6 stubbies on the way round and left at least two shots out there.

Was supposed to drive home, only live 45 minutes away, but ended up staying the night as I got well and truly hammered with the boys, played the first nine like a wally, could not putt to save my life, had 12 points.

Got a four beers for the back nine then had 6 one putt holes in a row, ah the power of alcohol, finished the nine 2 over par for 18 points, total 30 points so king of respectable.

Temp got to 33 C and it felt quite hot.

Jeez the heat was oppressive today
Been a while since I played in that heat. Bad idea to carry today so got a buggy half way round but damage done to any score

'Real feel' over 40 degrees

Managed to par half the holes coming in. No idea where the energy came from to swing a club though

The pros will have their work cut out if they go in the 1st cut rough, it's lush and thick and added 3 clubs to the distance

Thankfully the bar was open when we were done

4 Clubs and a putter comp today to finish off the Seniors year, took 3 Wood, 4 hybrid, 7I & Gap Wedge as the 4 Clubs, best round (only 14 hole comp) for 2-3 months. But sadly finished 4th one place off the prizes with 29 points.

All followed by Christmas lunch and end of year prize giving.

Good day all round.

Our Christmas fuddle today. 41 points won and I shot 37. Five prizes and it went to countback on the others. Guess who missed out on countback. Tash.
Short game was excellent.
Christmas dinner in the clubhouse after and it wasn’t worth £15.
Good day out for the 28 of us.

You are not having the best of luck in the catering department lately.

Same comp for us, but over 9 holes. Driver, 5h, 9h, 56 degree wedge and putter. Played out my skin, 22 points. Thought I’d blown it with one bad shot which resulted in a lost ball in the bushes on one of our par 5s, but it was good enough for the win against a field of 50 or so.

Xmas lunch afterwards was very good, drunk far too much, no real memory of getting home, slept through the football. A very very enjoyable day

Today in 38C I shot 7 over par off a 3 handicap I admit it was bloody hot, made three good birdies but a lot of soft bogeys, good news is as I am a sandbagger and I am now back out to a 4 handicap.

Had another game today at a different course, again 37C and it got to me, started well but heat was too much in the end, now for a rest until Saturday when it is going to be a cool 28C, plus we are going round in carts to keep the beer cold.
