Played yesterday morning - done by 2:30pm. It was cold; it was wet; it was windy, but it was playable...quite nicely given everything. Lots of sand on some fairways as we have done a load of quite tight 'sand banding' on half a doz fairways to improve drainage...but it'll be worth it...hopefully.

General the course is drier underfoot than it has been this time of year following downpours - so that's positive. Carrying is still encouraged. Still have an issue of flooding across one hole but it is perfectly navigable from a golfing perspective - the flooding is of a not very wide stream width across the fairway and it highlights what we still have too do (a new deeper swale or ditch across the fairway seem likely)...but water does seem to be flowing off the course better than of recent years.

Not playing to day but went to club and sounds like course stood up pretty well to yesterday's late afternoon, evening and overnight deluge.

Played Saturday and Sunday
Sat was a corporate Open with the anticipated 'strong' pts scoring from folk who cant seem to break a ton in their GP golf but solid in comps, well done :censored: but it was a good day out for all that and I was (deservedly) nowhere near winning with just 32pts
Sunday was just my wife & I after the other pair had to drop out, 35pts. Played similar overall

Driver was definitely the strength with no lost balls/reloads over the weekend & hitting about 75% fairway, rest in 1st cut and just one bunker off the tee
On the downside I need to work on bunker escape when its been heavily compacted by rain

I played today in a friendly 4 ball match, we won 3 & 2, I made 3 birdies and shot about 3 over par in lovely sunny conditions, 25C
expecting the same for tomorrow in our weekly scroungers competition, have over 70 playing.

Change I have made to for my iron play are working nicely.

Was expecting a mudbath this morning after the snow and torrential rain, but the course has held up surprisingly well. Couple of damp patches and the odd puddle, but other than that, it was in really good nick.

Very up and down round, my driving which is normal my strong point was off, lost 3 balls as a result. 33 points decent enough in the circumstances.

Not sure what you're all moaning about really. I played today, 18 holes, bright sunshine, shorts and a polo, beer afterwards.

I am in Cyprus at the moment though so that might be seen as cheating ;)

I live in Cyprus and it's great still playing in shorts with the sunshine in November

My 5th game since starting again and I won the kitty. Not a great round but better than any body else's.
A couple of 'got away with that' including a one foot high ground skimmer that came close to getting me a birdie.
Definitely day of how many not how.

Glad to have fitted that one in, course closed from last Thursday until yesterday course closed again today.

Na, I think those are good shots, and you brain subconsciously adapting at the last fraction of a second to execute the appropriate shot. Maybe you needed to keep it out of the wind, or felt you needed to roll the ball more instead of flying it, and risk landing in a spot that gets you a poor bounce.

That's what I tell myself anyway, when I hit such shots. 20 years golf experience has allowed by brain to tell my body to do some remarkable things with a golf ball. And, if I hit a bad shot, it's only because I was lazy...I'm lazy a lot.

Went out today and started in thick fog and a temperature of 1ºC.
An hour late and I was peeling off the layers until I was down to my polo, the weather was sublime.
As was my driving!
I was trying out the Jim Venetos swing and, despite it looking extremely weird, it seemed to work superbly with my driver!
I was regularly 30yds beyond my mates' drives .......................................... superb.
I also hit a few really good 7 woods and mid irons, too.
Maybe it only worked today, but I'll definitely persevere for a bit longer as it took the right side comfortably out of play.
It will need some tinkering, however, as the shorter irons were a bit iffy.
Had a good day!

Decided to sneak out for a few holes today after nearly 3 weeks straight of work on the swing in a simulator.

Its ladies day and it was obvious early doors the practice ground was going to be the only way I could swing a club more than once in a 10 minute period. I’m not knocking them having a ladies morning at all, I purposely got there for 11 when it ends so I could get out before the regular rollup but after watching 3 stand around from 10:40 until 10:59 on the tee (not even in the nets or putting green) and then take 20 minutes to play the first hole I quickly cut through to the range area and thought I’d get some short game in. Can’t help but think in any other situation you’re allowed to play through but whilst waiting on the 3rd tee and waiting back so I am not seen as trying to get through them I thought I’d make better use of the time.

Loads of work on 40-70 yards today and finished with some driving and putting. Proper winter golf day today.

Will try again tomorrow.

Frosty today - wouldn't have played except it was the last day available to us to play our R2 winter knockout match. 2 down afted 11, then won 5 holes on thr trot to win 3&2.

Best bit was getting my 1st ever hole in one to go 1up on 14th. 35 years of trying comes to fruition :D:D. Beautiful shot - 160 yards, slight fade, two bounces then rolled a couple of feet up the slope into the hole...

Things went from worse to worse as we played today. I'd had enough on 17 and picked up mid-way and just walked in with the others the rest of the way. There is a point where killing yourself on the course probably wouldn't be appreciated.
