The swindle this morning was the first one of the year off the blue tees and therefore the first time I've ever played off single figures! ;) I shot an 83 which was good for 34 points and the win šŸ‘šŸ»

One of the guys in my group is off +3 off the blues; difficult for him to win anything when he's only getting a point for a par on some holes!

What a mad roundā€¦ feel conflicted but I guess need to be happy in the end.

Couple of pars to start and literally an inch from being 3 in a row. Then FIVE doubles in a rowā€¦ all just annoying/silly stuff I know I need to irradiate from my gameā€¦ finally started listening to the voice in my head that says ā€œcā€™mon thenā€¦ resetā€ on the 9th and finished the last 10 holes +3

36 points (8 off the lead when I left, but so much to be positive aboutā€¦ if I ignore the FIVE DOUBLES šŸ„²)

Well I didn't play the Stableford comp today as, when we were having a bite before playing, we clocked groups taking just over 2 hours to play the 9th and tee off the 10th...
Ridiculous for 3 balls playing Stableford around our place.
We decided to just play..Fraagger and our 3rd player putt in 9 hole cards tso we had the option of coming off when we wanted..
Jeez it was slow....2 hours to the minute for the front 9
Things improved slightly on the back 9 but we'd still have been playing 17 and 18 in very gloomy light so it turned out to be the right choice.
If play had been normal pace then we'd have made it witn plenty to spare.
2 over handicap after t6 holes so not bad..
Will be thinking twice about playing winter comps from now on unless we can get an early time...

Rubbish front 9šŸ˜© decent back 9, all 18 could of been so much better, light winds, sunshine, no excuses.

Any how, guy in our 4 Ball teeing off on our 11th hooks his tee shot back down 10th towards the green, shouts fore and sends the 4 Ball behind us scattering to take cover, he then plays his 2nd shot back over the bushes towards me and another guy from our 4 Ball, nearly hitting us, he couldnā€™t see us and was not in the right direction for the 11th green, he then duffs his 3rd over a ditch and in to some trees still 40-50yds from the green, by this time the rest of us are on the green waiting, he then takes his 4th shot and slam dunks it in the hole for a Par! Strangest Par Iā€™ve ever witnessed.šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Rollup playing off yellow (soon to be renamed ā€˜purpleā€™) teesā€¦so Iā€™m off PH of 6ā€¦hmmm. But played pretty well - finished 2 over PH - but thatā€™s fine with course playing long. Besides - there was enough good stuff to make the silly stuff and the double on nine matter not. Onwards to and through the winter weeks.

Last major board comp of the year today. 3 clubs and a putter.

Struggling so much off the tee of late so decided to opt for 3 Hybrid, 9 iron and 58 wedge.

Shot my best comp score in about a year with 83 gross - 40 points and won the comp by a point and name on the board.

Very mixed feelings today playing my best golf with only a handful of clubs.

Strange game indeed

Very hit and miss yesterday. Drove very well other than one OOB. Hybrids are normally my strength, but was very inconsistent, a mix of the good, the bad and the ugly. Couldnā€™t buy a putt. In the circumstances, 32 points was a reasonable return.

Some talk that mats will be required from next week. Bit of a shame as the course is looking great at the moment, but understandable I guess if we want it to be tip top next spring.

Jeez that was warm today, maybe 35+

Walked and carried to gauge fitness, as a two ball we were faster than the 3 and 4 in front of us with carts

Had to skip a hole to get in front once we realised we had 5 groups on two short holes
Once in front we left them to it
3-4 club wind is getting to be standard these days
Gave myself a bogey for the skipped hole for 34 points
Despite the sunscreen I think I've burnt my ears
Rough is thickening up ahead of ET coming in, so definitely to be avoided but driving was strong (if shortish)

Bit hungover today so a slow start one-pointing the first four holes. Followed that with three nice pars in a row to get things back on track. After that it was the usual smattering of bogeys and doubles that is winter golf for me, with only two more pars. Putted very well which rescued me on a few holes, and helped me avoid making any blobs. Driving erratic as usual. Ended up 88 gross for 30 points. Pretty much standard lately.

Weather was nice, sun was out for most of it. Although that caused problems on a few holes when we were hitting blind into it - shouldn't complain about sun in November though. šŸ˜Ž

Sunday swindle - was expecting it to be cold but was surprisingly mild

Hit the ball ok on the front 9 but didnā€™t hole anything , 3 putt on 8 gave me 17 ( 1 over after 9 )

Dropped another on the 11th with a plugged ball in the bunker

The had birdie chances on every hole after with them dropping on the 15th , 17th and 18th for a 1 under 37 points

Think ended up 6th - winner had 44 points

yesterday I played at anther course that was new to me, Hallamshire in Sheffield, the course was very nice and a good challenge and I really enjoyed l playing it.
I played pretty well too but I did find sometimes it punished good shots, a well hit 3 wood the landed in the middle of the fairway and then kicked way left into what turned out to be a deep gully, never saw the ball again. also a couple of times on par 3s I hit good high irons that landed on the green but the run offs were so severe that on both occasions I ended up as the bottom of steep banks.
I will certainly play worse and score better

yesterday we played in a 2 man scramble which was great fun, we shot a net 62 (we had 4 shots) and our playing partners shot a net 59 (they had 3 shots) They deserved their 59 as they played fantastic golf. I was glad to get in at the end as it was getting pretty nippy!!

Started the seniors Stableford with a couple of okay shots to see me just short of the green in the first cut,
Three duffed chips later I pick up for a blob.

Set the tone for a very mediocre 29 points.

Ouch. One duffed chip hurts, I can't imagine three!

Played 9 holes today using a new stand bag I bought recently hoping I could still carry the clubs round aged 56, and managed no problem. Also pulled my 20 year old Big Bertha irons out which I havenā€™t hit for years and they performed pretty well also.So an enjoyable day.Think I might carry for the majority of the winter using the Callaway BBā€™s now

Snuck out on Sunday for what was meant to be a quick 12 holes on my own while the Mrs. and baby were out for a sunday dinner. Thought it would be quiet around 2pm but the local muni put people together to fill tee times and make more money. No-one seems to stick to it though and it ends up backing up the full course.

Was too cold to be stood waiting at every tee box (there's only so many practice swings you can take). Ended up playing holes 1-6 then 2&3 over and over until I was bored. Tried taking on the holes differently each time - Iron off the tee when I would normally take driver etc. Made no difference to how I scoredšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. Better than nowt I suppose!
