It’s always nice to hand your brother his backside on a plate.

Lovely out there today, when I got there I suggested we put cards in, but he said the greens were a bit iffy, so we didn’t….. bad mistake

18-14 after 9 holes
40-33 after 18
No blobs, 4 pars
Missed a number of short putts which was frustrating as it should have been 42/43

Next time I’m going to put a card in and he’ll just have to lump it 😎
Yeah...you know that if you'd put a card in that 40 points would have been 26.......
Nobody was stopping you putting a card in..........😉

5 club challenge, strokeplay, off the whites. What a combination.

Got stuck in a bunker on the first, took a 9. Was ready to NR there and then , head was a mess, but persevered.

Ended up playing pretty well for a net 72, happy enough in the circumstances.

You should have played yesterday
In your home club open
Course must have been easy......winning score 47 points 🤣😂🤣
Same guy that knocked me and my mate out the doubles comp, before we went out we were told we had no chance. I think we were -2 gross between us and lost 2&1.

Not sure if it’s true or not but we were told he used to be an old Cat 1 player who is now off 13.

Strange game .
Two parts of your game can be good the other crap.
But just shows how shortish putts can tidy up a card.
My putting was ridiculous today, couldn’t get the speed on long putts and was leaving everything miles short or bashing it miles long but I barely missed a thing in the range I usually really struggle with. Saved par 6 times from 8-12 foot, I’d usually be lucky to hole 2 of them.

My putting wasn’t even the most impressive in our group, one of my other mates who is also usually a plus golfer (up to scratch this season) shot -2 while losing a ball and also putting the last 7 holes with his 54 degree wedge after kicking his putter on 11 and the head flew off. He still made 2 birdies in the last 7 while putting with a wedge. 😂

Got 18holes today got a bit slow after 14 and I think I lost a bit of rhythm so piled on a few extra shots.
I was happy, using the Wilson staff x . I think it’s a good ball but they are expensive. I think similar to pro V1x but perhaps a little more active from irons and round the green with better durability. But the real winner is Chrome Tour X which does all that a little better. Plus has durability but cost is high ..
compromise is triad ball which has durability but a little less than the others ..

Today's Golfer recently did a very comprehensive ball test. The Chrome Tour X and Wilson came out top. It's on YouTube.

Played yesterday and after hitting a decent drive on the first I shanked my 2nd shot, it happens every now and then but after chipping the ball back in play I hit another one, this time with my 54° and it was at that point I knew it wasn't going to be a good round.

I only hit one more after that but I just couldn't hit the ball properly, everything was either going nowhere, my strike was completely off, somehow I managed to make 4 pars, including one on the last which I need to make to ensure I broke 100.

Beautiful weather and good company though, I just kept going through my process and just accepted whatever resulted from my swing. My worst round in exactly a year, but hey, you can't win them all.

Yesterday - had a little trip up to Jamie's new club - Huddersfield. It's always been renowned as the one of the better courses in the area, and I've played it a few times over the years, but it really does seem to have taken the standards up a few notches recently.
I really struggled to get anything going but enjoyed in nonetheless - shaky front nine for the youth but he played the back nine 3 over - after sorting out some swing gremlins.

£30 for a member guest rate - I'll be taking full advantage of that tha noz.. (y) 😂

Yes I was looking at those results. Sometimes they miss something. They also made the data collected last year not comparable which is a nuisance.
The durability is key though with these balls, I am sure people lose them but some don’t and it’s into see which balls could be used again.

Been a solid weekend of golf

Friday was the annual club vs staff - giving 18 shots to all three

Was 3 under par to managed to scrap a half but club beat the staff

Saturday was swindle and first day of the winter eclectic - level par 36 points but birdies on 4 holes which is a good start

Today was Club vs President - giving away 14,13 and 14 shots - 1 under par but ended up 4 holes down

Two rounds that got away from me. Out well both days and then threw it away on the back nine. Lots of good stuff to be positive about. Putting still a problem and now the greens are slowing struggling to settle on a putter to get it to the hole. Some work on the putting green tonight beckons and then the other are going into a dark place so I can't swap about.

Ever thought about hitting it harder, I'm sure that would work.
Just a wild and crazy thought. ;)

Yes which is why I have an Odyssey Protype #9 blade. A heavier putter and guess what, used that at the weekend and left too many 2 footers coming back not all of which I made so 3 putting too many times. The Odyssey two ball (https://www.golfbidder.co.uk/odyssey-o-works-red-le-2-ball-fang-putter) was better for speed but still struggling with speed control. It has been an issue all season

Best round in absolutely ages ... Gross 83, nett 66 - 4 under handicap. Played such that I wasn't disappointed with any aspect of my game. Only downside was that the score pushed one of my better 'best 8' out of my top 20, so the HI drop wasn't as much as it might have been. No matter, I seem to have stopped the upward trend and am down 1.7 over the past month. Perhaps the road to recovery does exist.
